Next time you watch this offense, count how man times Garrett runs play-action, especially in the first 3 quarters... It is astonishing that Garrett doesn't run play-action to make safeties bite... Safeties just sit back all day, not worried about the run...
A timing-based offense is predicated on an effective play-action... We have none... plus, we don't really have any timing... this offense is predicated on Romo keeping plays alive with his feet, long enough for a WR to get behind the CB to chuck it... When you take away that with safety help over the top, this offense goes into the tank...
Romo is accurate at short-range, and Garrett doesn't exploit that...
Well now I know for sure he's running the "Martz" vertical passing game. That was the big arguement about Martz when he was here in St. Lous, no play action.
In St. Louis you also saw:
A ton of the fake pass/draw
A ton of seam routes/outs
No timing because the routes are so long
The QB gets killed and harrased all day because the routes are so long.
The Oline looks horrible.
It's no coincidence that Kurt Warner was always hurt running that Offense here in St. Louis, then he heals up (which took him a few years riding the bench in New York and Arizona) and he becomes a pro bowler.
