The statistics suggest that for a period of roughly 4 years, 2005 - 2008, the violent crime rates in Deming were well below the national average. However, for the previous years (1999 - 2003 with 2004 being at roughly the national average), the crime rates in that area were significantly higher then the National Averages. This would seem to support the theory that Deming and the surrounding areas are not the safest places in America.

Hey, these are your statistics. I don't really go by stats. I have been to these places and I know what they are. It is you who are providing this information as proof of your arguments. It is not my fault that the proof is not supporting your arguments.

how heavy is that goal post again?

If you don't live on the boarder, you have no clue what the situation with drugs and all kinds of other criminal activities are like.

my data proved my case. it proved that statement of yours was ignorant. you lost.

my supporting data shows that you don't have to live on a border as you claimed.

you were pwned.

Well, you said that Deming was one of the safest cities in the US correct? The statistics do not support that position.

I believe you also said that De Moines was one of the safest cities in the Midwest. I am not certain what you are basing that on but from a National perspective, De Moines is, in fact, much higher then the National Average for violent crimes. However, statistically, it is not more violent then Deming New Mexico.

No idea. It's painted on your back so you would probably be the best judge of that.

OK, if you say so. Bet you are a big hit at parties too.

incorrect. the only time I used safest, was in a description of Des Moines as one of the safest big cities in the midwest. compare it to Chicago, Minneapolis, etc, etc. I stand by that claim.

I did say Deming is extremely safe, which it is. rapes, murders, assaults are still way below national averages.

Statistically, it is not. It's more dangerous then Des Moines, which is much higher then the national average for violent crimes. It's clearly displayed in your link, provided earlier.

You are completely wrong here. When's the last time you've been to Deming? It's out of control the last 4 or 5 years. Trafficing has become a huge problem all around Las Cruces and surrounding areas.

Well, I guess my post went over your head? I need to work on my sarcasm or humor.

Yeah, sorry 5Stars. Was probably me. I totally didn't get that you were yanking my chain there. I thought you were serious and simply had not been there in awhile, as I know it has been some time since you've been back.

BTW, you missed another chile season but no great loss. Chile was terrible this year. Way too much rain.

I ordered a gunny sack of fresh green chile and was roasting some outside last evening (it was cold as hell outside), but the chile was good. I also sent some frozen green chile to Justbob from Hatch, but he has not got back to me to tell me how it tastes.

Didn't Hostile grow up in Deming? I think he said he did.

I think just outside but not for sure. Deming has been the wild west for a long time. I know lots of folks from there that move on.

Just this past year, the Feds busted all kinds of folks in the Horse Racing Industry because the Zetas Drug Cartel was using it to launder drug money. Basically, they were selling horses to themselves, using drug money to buy the horses through shell corps. and paying ridiculous prices for the horses. On the side they were distributing drugs through the transportation of the livestock from auctions and also distributing steroids to Quarter Horses illegally. They were having a good old time there for awhile.

It's everywhere anymore.

Well, where Deming is located it's no wonder that drugs are a big problem.

And, I have no clue why Eric thinks you are condoning what happened. Nothing that you posted that I saw said anything like that. All I gathered from you convo with him is that corruption with drugs is all over the area down there.

It's no big deal. I'm guessing he just got an idea in his head and it kinda took off.

To be honest, I don't even like to go down that way anymore. Used to get down towards El Paso on Business once and awhile. Used to do work with the Base out there and DEA/Boarder Patrol. Used to also just hit it down to Cruces every once and awhile just to go catch a game or maybe a concert but not anymore unless I absolutely have to. Just to much of a pain.

I used to go to El Paso all the time with a friend just to go into Juarez and hang out for the day. I also used to go to El Paso/Las Cruses when I was at UNM and they had a road game, but that was during the early 70's and drugs were not as prevalent as they are now, at least I did not notice if it was.

I'm pretty sure there is more to this story that has not come out yet. I will try to follow it and post what is reported.

As far as I can tell, that is what gave them probable cause to get the warrant in the first place?

this isn't difficult to grasp.

this story really should only produce 1 of 2 reactions in the reader

1) no way. that can't be what happened. they are embellishing

2) this is outrageous

If your response is, look, you don't live here, so you can't judge this, you are part of the problem in this country.
