So you’re saying he will be one of our top two RBs on opening day? He and Pollard will be splitting most of the carriers, is that what you believe?
I don’t think that’s how this works man. MM has roles for RBs, not a standard order. All 3 backs are different. Pollard is the all-around, Rico will be the heavy back, and Deuce will be the gadget back. You’d use them in different circumstances. Special is special no matter what size it comes in, and Deuce is special. What were Malik’s ypc again? 0.8…..And Rico? 3.5.

Deuce was 6.3 despite a free rusher knocking him for a 5 yd loss which he couldn’t do a thing about.

Well, from watching last nights game, it was pretty much like what we were seeing last season by rotating two backs. It was Davis and Dowdle early on until we started bringing in the substitutes. Neither Davis or Dowdle looked very good, but they were playing against Jacksonville‘s first team defense behind our back up OL. The jury is out on all our backs.

Correct: All that you said is stipulated in today's NFL. RB by committee is the new norm, the Emmitt Smith days were over long ago.
I wouldn't go that far man you forgot to DeMarco Murray and Ezekiel Elliott, they handled it like an old three down back. I mean you got Derek Henry doing that right now but yes it's very very rare these days.

If you take away that 26 yard run, he averaged less than 4 yards a carry against third stringers. It’s something you have to look at. Had he started the game and broke off that run against Jacksonville‘s first team defense then I’m not mentioning it. I don’t care what he did in college. I want to see how he does against the top players in the NFL. Currently he’s our fourth back. We’ll see if he moves up a notch next week and gets an opportunity earlier.
Enough with this baloney talk already. During 2 of those 5 runs, Deuce had defenders 3 yards in the backfield as soon as Deuce was getting the handoff. You simply don't like him. Everyone can see it. You attack and doubt him while you speak from the other end of your mouth barely giving him a last minute semi-praise all so you won't be called out for your nonsense.

Just watched the highlights and he looks like he has a nice burst and a knack for being elusive...want to see how he looks against starters but he could be a great weapon and at the least a returner...looks like he could be a good value too being a 6th rounder

While I am firmly in the camp of Deuce can't be an every down back in the NFL I am also not willing to just dismiss the kid. Speed and quickness translate at every level as does that ridiculous stop/start ability of his. Yes big guys will be able to get him to the ground once they get ahold of him. But good luck getting ahold of him. The kid is elusive and you can clearly see that he has developed that slipperyness any smaller back needs to be successful. I think he is on the 53 man roster opening day and McCarthy and Co will find a way to use him. He's basically a slightly smaller Darren Sproles at this point.. and from the looks of it he might he a half a step faster on the top end than Sproles was. I'm not going to say he's quicker because nobody has been quicker than Sproles except maybe Barry Sanders. Bottom line is he's hard as hell to tackle because he has great balance, a low center of gravity and powerful legs. If you only see "Man he's small" when you look at him then you're missing the point.

Deuce had over 5000 all purpose yards in college!
Rico had 2000 !
Rico was injured a lot in collage . Deuce I don’t believe ever missed a game !
I don’t care if he is 6’5 or 5’5 the dude can ball.
Deuce had almost identical collage stats as Bijon Robinson playing against the same competition In the big 12.
When you’re right, you’re right… and you are right.

What do “gadget backs” do? And do other teams employ gadget backs?

Hard not to be excited about the faster offense.
Then why was he only a sixth round pick?
Same reason Overshown dropped. NFL still freaks out about small people. LOL

Ballers are ballers. Another great example just put in the HOF - Zach Thomas.

What has Vaughn done in the NFL? They’re all unproven. Vaughn won’t be one of our top two backs on opening day because he’s an undersized rookie, playing behind a couple of much bigger backs who have some NFL experience. As the season goes on, Vaughn may move ahead of one or both of the backs ahead of him, but it’s going to take some time. if the Cowboys don’t like what they see from the running game in preseason, they may bring back Zeke, or they could possibly sign Leonard Fournette, or some other back.

So essentially you think the other backs are going to be on the roster over Vaughn because they are… larger in size.

Ok.

Undersized LBs can flourish in the NFL as pass rushers. However, you don’t see that many under sized RBs, especially the size of Vaughn flourishing in the NFL.

They’re currently ahead of him, because they’re bigger and they have some NFL experience. Why else were they ahead of him yesterday?

Why was Tom Brady?
He was tall and skinny in college. He tested poorly in workouts. His body type and lack of athleticism put teams off plus he was slow. He ran a 5.28 40. He simply didn’t fit the eye test for what teams are looking for at QB.
