Well, I have been debating this since I found out he was considering boycotting games...now this. Bottom line, it's time to change my sig!

There, sig deleted. Now, that feels better. Disappointed in this guy. Good luck "88".

Normally, I agree with this, but I don't in this case. With Dez stating he's considering skipping games and the fact that prior to this news leaking every comment section on the net and this site have been filled with "Pay the man, Jerry!" comments, I think it's important to understand the situation better. I'm all for paying Dez a great contract, but not at the expense of losing other players or being unable to bring in help the next few seasons as a result.

Good point. Up until this point, I've been teetering towards the "just pay the man" side. But if this number is accurate, and Dez & company are unwilling to budge much from there, that changes the game for me. Even something like 14 million is way up there to me, but I could live with it since it's Dez. But 17 million is a deal breaker, and apparently the Cowboys feel the same way. I thought that perhaps the Cowboys have been pinching pennies regarding these Dez negotiations, but it seems that's not the case.

Dez will turn 27 in November, and 28 next November, so he will turn 29 during his first non-franchise season if we go that way. Larry Fitzgerald is 31 and hasn't seen a thousand yards the last three seasons. Last year Fitzgerald had only 101 yards more than Terrance Williams. I realize Fitzgerald and Dez have nothing to do with each other, but Fitz is pulling down some big bucks for not much production, and that happens to a lot of players when they reach 29.

If Dez is firm on 17 million, two years and out sounds good to me.

Me too, I hope like any other Cowboy fan that the 2 sides can reach a long term agreement.

Agreed.

Would really love to see us put this behind us, and go into the season full strength.

Hate money issues.

Myself, the business part of football sucks. My feelings are still that the 2 sides will come together on a deal and this gets done before the July deadline.

If true i'd franchise him twice and then let him walk.

We don't have a good enough offensive scheme that could even begin to validate spending 17 mill on a receiver.

If we did have that good of an offensive scheme then we wouldn't need a 17mil receiver.

I couldn't care less about the money per that he seeks...it's all about the guaranteed money to me. Fitz is averaging 11mil per and people will discuss that figure while failing to mention that the deal he signed is 2yrs/22mil with 22mil guaranteed.

As I have said many times, I hope the Boys and Dez can find a happy median but I am all for these young guys making the most money they can make. I hope he stays healthy and collects the 28mil guaranteed from Dallas for 2015 and 2016 then gets 40mil in guarantees in free agency. That is Revis like business savvy for a non-QB. Again, curious to see how the WR deals play out but with the cap increasing each season Dez will look really good playing with Andrew Luck in Indy or Russell Wilson in Seattle in 2017. Don't rule out Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay either.

Lol if wilson gets his contract and they give bryant anything near market value, that team is instantly out of the playoffs.

Good question. I'd like to know

It was Jim trotter. They were talking about wrs contracts coming up and teams being afraid to set the market. He said dez is asking for 17 but teams right now aren't wanting to give more than 13. Now people have been known just to make stuff up. Lol we've all seen it but that's what he said.

Well somebody will pay him.

**** it, guess we are stuck with Terence Williams as our lead Receiver in a few years.

When Jason Garrett is your coach you need a stacked team to win. I can't imagine how even more important that would be without Romo.

So you can't spend 17 mill on a receiver and sacrifice the rest of the team because Jason is going to call plays exactly the same with bad players as he does with good players.

That would be great bro. I also hate the business side of things related to sports.

I have to deal with this next year on okc with durant, the WB the following year. Smh

Can't argue this.

Like dooms said hopefully it gets done by July.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what's been going on. I thought I read somewhere recently that the Cowboys haven't actually made him an offer since before the end of the season. If true, and based on what Stephen's been saying about how they are more than happy to have him play under the tag.... the Cowboys will not be entering into any negotiations as long as Dez's price is what it is.

The Cowboys like to wait until just before the deadline to make a final offer.

That is how they handled draft picks under the old cba.

Due to the age of their team (one of the younger rosters in the League) it is possible that they kick money down the road via restructures...especially Wilson's contract in order to keep the run going.

Even without considering Wilson's contract, I just can't see Seattle paying that much for a receiver.

They just traded a 1st and acquired one of the largest TE contracts this offseason. They are already showing that they want to keep their run going.
