Well, a fine kettle of fish if Condon advises Dez to sit out until game 10.

http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***...ive-cowboys-2-first-round-picks-for-dez.html/

Also, if some team signs Dez to a long term contract after the draft
this year, the two no 1's would be for 2016 & 2017.
If a good team signs him if wouldn't even benefit us this year....

He won't do that.
1st: It costs Dez tremendously in fines.
2nd: All Dallas needs is any excuse to suspend him one game and misses the entire accrued year of eligibility. --See Josh Gordon.
3rd: Dez likes winning as much if not more than money. He won't hurt the team's playoff chances and limit his own chance to compete.

Whatever else Dez may be he is 100% a born competitor. His entire life is based upon getting through (sleeping on a friend's couch, parents in jail, et al) the point where he can compete. He's been very clear that not playing at OSU is the hardest thing he has dealt with.

Yeah all he has to do is be able to predict the future and guarantee he isn't injured in the next two years of football activity.

Complete gamble...and Anthony Spencer is a prime example. That said, it's not a bad gamble if the team won't meet your desired guaranteed money amount.

I personally think it would be quite tragic for Dez if he got tagged and then suffered a career ending injury. Think about that Dez fans. He would have done all he has done and not be fairly compensated for it.

Why is Dez any different than any other player playing on a non guaranteed deal? Everyone on their rookie deal or last year of their contract is playing without an injury safety net.

It just bothers when people are concerned about certain players being able to cash in if they get hurt, as if 13m for next year is nothing. It is more than he has made for his first 5 years and is more than 75% of all the players in the League will ever make.

I just want the team to get a deal done that is the most friendly possible toward the cap. Dez Bryant's welfare is the least of my concern.

I'm not a Dez Bryant fan. I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan.

Here here!
I wish him well forever, but I will always wish my team better.

Yup, hurts my feelings when a guy who plays a sport he loves makes only 13 mil a year. :)

No tears here either. But that said, if the money's coming in, better that it goes to the guys who are actually doing the tough and risky work of playing!

I just don't understand the logic behind it. I understand why the player wants it, but I don't get fans that would rather see Dez get paid multiple years worth of salary even if it hurts the team and the cap.

It is nothing personal against Dez, but if he signs a 40m guaranteed deal and he gets hurt year 1 that would kill Dallas' cap. If it was like baseball with no cap and 100% guaranteed contracts, who cares. But the salary cap changes everything in the NFL.

No one was worried for Demarco Murray last year who was on the last year of his deal and carried the ball over 400 times. And now they don't want to pay him because he carried it so much last year. I bet he would take the 13m for next year and not whine about it.

Everyday, 25 mile commute. Before 7am 35 minutes...after 7am 1:20. Hence why I have sirius.

But I can keep the top down 360 days a year :)

That's because there's no water there....like on Mars. :)

I'd bet he would take 13 mil for 2 years and not complain.

LOL

Every time I get ready to move back east or southeast, I realize I'm Barbecueing in January by the pool while watching the news of someone shoveling 30inches off their hood of their car or getting hit with a tornado or 20 straight days of rain. And Florida is where the carnies meet rejects. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/florida-man/ :)

True story I went to NYC for a week in Nov for work. Caught a plane from LAX at 330Pm on a sunday. Wore shorts and a t-shirt and took no coat. Had to buy a hoodie and sweatpants at the airport because I checked my bag with Jeans and suit.

Wife wont even go to the grocery now if it is in the 50s. Got waaaayyyy soft I admit it

That really isnt the point. Everyone tries to work for market value commiserate with their skill set. He should be able to make the counter argument that there are 1700 players in the NFL, if I am top 50, then I should get Top 3% of salary.

Ultimately the CBA agreed this, so its hard for a player to be mad at a team, but they should want their market value. Players have a finite window and the majority will not be able to earn a fractional amount of the same money after playing.

It is pretty much the whole point. Dez wants the most he can get with injury protections whether it would hurt the team or not. Dallas loves Dez but they have to think of the whole team. The sticking point is the guaranteed money. Why should Dallas assume all the risk? There are other contract options and other players available. If Dez won't share any of the risk Dallas will tag him , maybe twice and move on.

Dez should do what is best for Dez and make as much money as he can but the cowboys should just pay the man his money and should not try to pay him less?

Yep that makes perfect sense
