Dez Bryant's mom alleges assault

Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was arrested Monday after he allegedly assaulted his mother, Angela, on Saturday, according to DeSoto police Captain Ron Smith.

According to the incident report, Bryant became angry when his mother asked him to leave her home during an argument Saturday afternoon. Initially, at a Tuesday news conference, Smith said Bryant slapped his mother in the face, but the police report, which was released later Tuesday, clarified that Bryant allegedly grabbed her by her T-shirt and hair and "hit her across the face with his ball cap."

Angela Bryant, whose T-shirt and bra were allegedly torn during the incident, indicated on the 911 call that this was not the first time she was assaulted by her son.

"I can't keep letting him do this," said Angela Bryant, who made the call from the nearby home of family friend and adviser David Wells. "I can't keep letting him do me like this. I'm tired. I'm going to put an end to it today. I'm going to put an end to it today. I'm tired."

Per the article:

Saturday: "Officers who responded to the 911 call from Bryant's mother did not observe any injuries, and she did not complain of pain at the time, according to the report."

Monday: ". . . after officers contacted Bryant's mother at her home, the report states that she said she had pain in her wrists, hands and arms. Officers observed swelling around her wrists at that time, according to the report."

So, I wonder what happened/who she talked to on Sunday.

I've seen this movie before. In real life.

Or it took a day or two for the swelling, pain and bruises to become apparent...

I'm just going to withhold judgement for a few days until the whole story leaks out.

One report said he was in an argument with his half brother before his mom got pushed. Is it possible that she stepped between them and thats how she ended up getting shoved, while trying to seperate them? It is. Is that what happens? Who knows.

Did Dez give her money and find out she blew it on drugs and he got mad and confronted her, trying desperately to get her to listen? Again, it's possible. Who knows.

Or did Dez just snap over an argument with his brother and his mom caught him at the wrong place/wrong time? Very possible.

For now, I have no idea what sparked the argument, why or how she was pushed. So I'm going to withhold judgement. I'm leaning towards us suspending him at the moment, but not 100% sure until it all comes out.

She had plenty of time to injure herself during one of her drug stupors...since no arrest was made during the initial police response I think the case gets dropped considering the record and character issues with "mom".

There are quite a few people out there who continually await Bryant's next misstep, because we live in an I-told-you-so world. People are obsessed with being proven right, and those who made up their minds about Bryant long ago believe that Monday proved them right. So go ahead and pat yourself on the back, and keep being butthurt when Dez is scoring touchdowns for Dallas in 2012. Lay down the hateraide while youre at it.

You know what's despicable?

What you just posted.

Whats despicable about it? Sorry the facts bother you. I am sorry his mother was raped. His father should be in jail. I had hopes Dez would turn out to be a good upstanding young man. He did not. I have dealt with case after case where poor parents turn out crappy kids. It is what it is. Dez appears incapable of breaking the cycle.

I have serious questions and doubts about anyone that supports hitting a women, let alone their mother. You do not, and that is fine. You can justify anything you want in the name of fandom. I was raised differently. That is all.

Spoken by someone who's never had a bruise or swelling. Tissue does not wait a day, then decide to injure itself. A bruise, maybe on muscles of the lower body. Swelling - that's immediate, short of internal organ bleed.

Try again.

DWI/DUI is common. A pro beating on his momma is not. Add the Dallas Cowboy factor and it gets blown up 100%

Ok, lets play. How do you know his mother didn't have the same up bringing or his grand mother? So if we look at it from that veiw point is it her fault?
She simply didn't know better. Just like he doesn't.
I doubt she came from Belair. It sounds to me like he has had the best chance of all of them to make the change.

I doubt he doesn't have some one around him that is trying to point him in the right direction. I'm sure Jerry is seeing to that and has been since his first stupid mistake as a Cowboy.

So sick of the "poor kid never had a chance" crap. He has more of an education than I do. I never went past high school. He has money, I'm sure he has someone around him to help with his issues. He's just making bad decisions, that's completely on him like it would be any one else.

Not every idiot had bad parents or a bad upbringing. They make bad decisions.

That wasn't my point at all. My point was who do you trust, Dez or a woman who abandoned her children and spent 2 years in the penitentiary for selling crack cocaine, and has had a history of abuse?

Is it so crazy to think this woman, who he obviously cares about because he's still trying to take care of her after all the terrible things she's put him through, could be lying? It's not like she hasn't set a precedent for being an absolutely terrible human being. Dez wants a relationship with his mother and she's probably clinically insane. Dez has feelings and she's the only parent he has, she's proven that she cares more about her drug addiction than her kids.

He's never made ANY excuses for himself, even though his upbringing was terrible and he probably needs years of counseling. So save the chest thumping, money doesn't buy happiness or fix the years of mental abuse an upbringing like Dez can do to you psychologically.

Josh Gordon would be looking really nice as a Cowboy right now. Another missed opportunity.

Phillip Tanner ‏@PTanner34 Let's not be so quick to throw dirt, take a look in the mirror I promise you that there are stains on you. #LeaveTheJudgingToGod
I really hate this stupid phrase and the ones just like it. People use it to defend EVERYTHING. Your average person who's worst crime is maybe j-walking has every right to complain about people who commit far more serious offenses. I hear this same thing from people even when people are bashing rapists and murderers also (no I'm not comparing that to what dez did). It drives me nuts.
