You are correct there.

However, a drug addict is not going to try to get the one millionaire in her life in trouble just out of spite.

Even taking the most cynical perspective on this, Dez is worth far more to her as a successful, highly paid athlete than a guy looking at a suspension and a questionable future

You're looking at this from a very rational and logical perspective, but looking at Angela Bryant's life there seems to be a lack of rational and logical decision making. Rational and logical people don't have 3 babies by the age of 18. Nor do they start selling crack when they have 3 dependents. Nor do they get arrested for crack distribution after they've already previously served prison time for it.

The entire family sounds crazy and toxic, and that includes Dez who reportedly had issues with anger management as a child (how could he not, he's probably fundamentally and emotionally damaged as a human being). It's not wise to attempt to apply logic to crazy.

I may be completely off base here, but if the scenario played out something like this I could totally see how Dez could be in the right. Say he showed up to his mom's house and found out she had started up doing drugs again or he found drugs in her house. He gets angry because he's probably trying to support her. And instead of using his money for the right things like food and clothes, she's using his money to buy drugs. Naturally he gets angry and gets in an argument with her. Takes the drugs to throw them away or get rid of them or whatever. She gets upset and attacks him to stop him from taking the drugs he then defends himself and pushes her off him. Things get a little crazy she's upset at him for taking her drugs and calls the cops on him. He realizes she calls the cops on him and leaves.

Not saying this is how it played out but it's a very real possibility. We won't know till all the facts come out and we very well may not know. Dez might of gotten angry at her for doing drugs again and her saying she's tired of him always doing this to her could mean he's checked on her before and she had drugs before and he took them away. But his brother and some other guy were there and they didn't step in at all...dunno just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Again, just one way to look at it.

I think this is a very real possibility. I hope the story is more like this than the alternative.

Garrett needs to suspend him. How many games should be determined by whatever additional pieces come out. But there is no way that you bring this sort of negative attention on your team without a suspension.

Okay, I don't have the batter life in my laptop to read this whole thread but I did listen to the 911 call. She never said he hit her with a hat or anything. Just that he tried to "Pick up a ball". WTH does that mean. Even the 911 operator was confused by that. Then she said she had her shirt tore off which obviously wasn't the case. Then this bat crap crazy woman said that he pulled her hair and that she wasn't injured yet, then she has swelling and bruising on her arms? Really?

This woman is crazy and Dez needs to say, "I love you but stay the heck out of my life." and be done with her.

Just one more person trying to set up a pro athlete and it is a damn shame that it happens to be the mom. What a disturbing situation. With that kind of mom, it's a wonder Dez even made it through high school let alone college and then into pro ball. With a parent like that he should by all account long since been dead.

Kudos to Dez for surviving that crazy broad.

But unlike those you know, Dez has had many, many people that have tried to help him over the years. His talent has afforded him more access to help than almost everyone, and now he's got a paycheck to go with it, too.

It's the repeated issues that bother me.

No it isn't. Its his mother. The Dallas cowboys are not more important than family. She and he are both messed up. If he was wrongly accused he doesn't deserve any punishment. He also doesn't need to be told "because you kept your mother in your life and she created a scene you're suspended"
