She said in the 911 call that "he's trying to kill me."

Come on, people. Put the crucifix away. Just like we said, he just needs to leave DeSoto in the rear view.

:hammer:

I don't care if Dez's mom struggles with drugs and is a prostitute. That does not give Dez the right to assault his own mother and abuse her repeatedly. I say Jerry needs to cut this hot headed moron. It's not like he is that good anyway. He has been average at best since we drafted him.

ITT: It's the mom's fault and now the fault of the police...but as usual, nothing is Dez's fault.

Repeatedly?

True, but if she initiated or threatened a violent attack on him he was entirely in his right to physically restrain her.

Holy cow, several of the DFW media are absolutely giddy over this. This is better than Jerry taking TO back for them.
Filled the unmotivated allowance of dead space (by some) from now until players start arriving for TC, didn't it?

Many in the DFW sports media are so seemingly lazy when it comes to reporting on the Cowboys... waiting for stories to come to them. THEN they pipe up, suddenly having something to write about.

Sorta disgusts me, sometimes.

The police are not judge and jury. They only do what they're required by law to do. According to the police report, officers who responded to the 911 call from Bryant's mother did not observe any injuries and she did not complain of pain at the time. Then when she came back days later and showed some evidence physical altercation they are required by law to make the arrest, and let the judge and jury sort out guilt and innoncence. The fact that they arrested and charged him speaks to nothing as to whether she initiated violence or whether Dez was just trying to restrain her. So far we've only got one side of the story, and that's hers, and it seems to change by the day.

You seem awfully hung up on the days later part. Much more so than the people who interpret the law and issue arrest warrants.

And you seem awfully willfull to ignore that there was zero evidence of violence at the scene and that she's repeatedly changed her story of the account.

Once again, it's not up to the people who issue arrest warrants to determine guilt or innocence. They only do what they're required by law to do. You act like they did a full on investigation and found this mountain of evidence against him. That's not how it works. If a woman has a single scratch on her and she claims it's caused by a man, an arrest is made and no further questions are asked. After that it's up to the judge and jury to sort out.

It's being reported that Dez repeatedly abused his mom. This isn't the first time (allegedly).

reported by people who talked to his mom. there seems to be a general consensus that his mother isn't exactly someone to trust. no one is saying touching his mother was the right thing to do. what people are doing is trying to understand the situation and what caused Dez to lay his hands on his mother. there are certain situations that warrant putting your hands on someone.

I'm totally reminded a scene in The Sopranos. Ralphie kills a stripper and keeps saying "but Tony, she was a *****"

Even Tony Soprano didn't buy that logic.

But we seem to embrace it here.

If the story told to the police was inconsistent as you note they likely wouldn't have acted. Even the police are describing this as straightforward -- not the complex story you are choosing to believe.

I must say you've mastered the role of contrarian judging by your posts though.

Is it being contrary to believe the story as reported by the police?

Or is it contrary to make up a bunch of "it coulda happened like this" angles?
