He also allegedly "tried to kill [her]."
I'm just filling him in on where the "repeatedly" came from. Don't shoot the messenger.

Truly a sad day for Cowboys fans when there is a significant subset of fans who are actually happy about a player falling into a tough spot.

Is it being contrary to believe the story as reported by the police?

Or is it contrary to make up a bunch of "it coulda happened like this" angles?

i don't know what story you're reading. have you read the police report without the information being filtered? if so, is that information subject to change?

also, it's speculative not contrary to come up with different scenarios using facts from the past and present. if you speculate based on FACTS so be it. if you speculate based on RUMORS shame on you. no one has speculated based on rumors, only facts.

the reason i call you a contrarian is because every time i see you post something it opposes the general consensus of the thread. it's usually you and one other guy. this is a perfect example.

Where are you getting that people are happy about this?

If the story told to the police was inconsistent as you note they likely wouldn't have acted. Even the police are describing this as straightforward -- not the complex story you are choosing to believe.

No, all his mother has to do is walk over to the magistrate and file a complaint under oath. If the magistrate believes there is any substance at all the complaint, a warrant is issued on spot. The magistrate can even overrule the investigating officer.

Even if the police are not called or do not make an arrest on the scene, the victim can initiate criminal charges by going to the city or county courthouse (depending on where the victim lives) and swearing out a complaint before the court, a warrant officer, or a clerk– magistrate. The warrant will then be turned over to a police officer or the sheriff who will then arrest the abuse. It could be hours, days or weeks, however, before the arrest is accomplished and the victim should plan to take action which will keep him/her safe during this time.

Sometimes warrant clerks, magistrates or warrant officers will refuse to issue a warrant. In these cases, an attorney or an advocate from The House of Ruth may be able to assist the victim in obtaining a warrant.

There are plenty that are happy and think they were "proven right" about Dez.

...and thereby would rather say "I was right" than show concern.

R2A was decidedly happy about it.

Beat me to it.

Many of you certainly are quick to judge someone without knowing the facts.

Fact.

Dez put himself in a situation that ended up with him getting arrested.

Fact.

This makes the team look terrible.

Fact.

Players are continually told to avoid situations that could lead to trouble.

Probably was slightly exaggerated due to frustration without this fan base waiting for facts, or even, Dez to release his statement before jumping off the deep end like it seems half of this forum has already done.

Sadly, he was happy about it. Almost giddy.

You're rushing to judgment. Fact.

Ironically, these rules are in place to protect the abused from people who say things like "she's probably lying, after all she's a junkie" or "she's just being spiteful and trying to get him in trouble"

You're acting like my fiance does sometimes and it drives me crazy.. in life, there is normally always grey area.

Dez was at his moms house. Fact? Was he?

This makes the team look terrible. Fact? Let's see what happens, it could come out that it makes Dez's family look terrible and his best bet is to leave them behind.

Players are told to avoid situations that could lead to trouble. Fact. Unfortunately, and like so many people going off the deep end here, they're arguing you can't turn your back on family! Again, let's just sit back and see what unfolds.

And ironically, we also have innocence until proven guilt to protect people from being lynched by angry mobs out of personal bias.

I've clearly noted the relevant facts below. Players are told repeatedly to avoid situations that could lead to trouble. Dez failed to do that (twice now this off season, in fact) and has been arrested.

You can try to play the "maybe this and maybe that" card, but it is clear that Dez cannot seem to keep himself out of trouble.

He chose to engage in an extended confrontation.

Was he unable to simply leave?

The decision to stay, argue, and get caught up in the drama is the bad decision
