No, I don't deal in absolutes. Dak has missed some throws too.

But the sad fact is that all of the shut-down corners that Dez Bryant has faced have done exactly that - shut him down.

He's far from earning anything close to what he's being paid and it's time people admit it. And admit that he's not the top 10 receiver and threat that some continue. Our #1 receiver is averaging a little over 50 yards a game. That's hardly #1 production.

He’s clearly overpaid and still a top ten receiver. He hasn’t produced up to his contract for a myriad of reasons and he’s still a top ten wide receiver

That drop he had last game is part of why I don’t defend him anymore. Enough is enough. I don’t hate him but I don’t really care about him anymore.
Cmon bruh. That happens all throughout the league

Dez is tied for 18th in drops. Odell is tied for first and hasnt played in two weeks

All receivers have the same issue.

It's not as if Dez only gets opportunities on more difficult deep routes. Butler is the one that always gets the deep targets and his catch rate is very good.

If it was just a few percentage points difference then maybe you could find some legit excuses but Dez is so much worse than the other Cowboys receiving options, it's not even funny.

Again, this assumes that it's a receiver problem. There are a lot of reasons it could be skewed. Assuming it is the receiver is not wise. It may not be a "problem" with any player.

That makes no sense.

Assuming the sun will come up tomorrow is unwise by your definition.

You're welcome. But two big differences between this year's first six games and last year's are 1)Dez isn't injured this year (that we know of), so 2)Dez is getting a much larger share of the targets this year.
Dez has too many drops this year. One of which directly went for an INT (he's also defended quite a few would be INTS). Additionally he's had some pitch and catch would be TDs where Dak just straight up missed him (he's also dropped at least one TD in the endzone i'd have expected to him to catch).

A lot of moving pieces here.

Lol I said I’m not mad at him, I’m just not a (fan) anymore. He can win back many fans this year though. There’s time left

Butler's targets may be mostly deep shots but he tends to get the deep throws against single coverage and when he's beaten his CB. Very few pre planned deep shots that Dez gets where you're taking advantage of a coverage pre snap. You'd expect more of the balls in the first situation to be caught than balls in the 2nd situation. For self evident reasons.

I'm liking Dez as a short, slant option. His strength will be more of an advantage here. I'm no longer liking Dez as a long option - not much separation down field and he can no longer outmuscle, leap, and land in awkward body destroying positions. Use Butler down the field and Dez short or in the red zone. The way they used Dez against SF was pretty good

Tell me then Mr Excusemaker, exactly what "type of offense" is Dez Bryant in? How does it affect or limit him vs his contemporaries? What are the specific causes for his failure in production?

It's obvious that you're hung-ho to make excuses for it, so the floor is yours.

State your case Counselor!

In 2016, through six games Beasley had 33 catches; this season he has just 16.

Explain.

Dallas is currently 24th in the league in pass attempts.

Let me do the heavy lifting for you little one...

Less pass attempts equals less production from receivers.

Ban yourself.

That doesn't follow logically at all.

You see a number, you assume the cause. That's not good analysis.

Think through it further. Why would he get so many targets if he wasn't doing anything right?
What is he doing that's making the targets not be complete?

IMO, targets is a very poor stat in general.

I'm "blame" Dez for not being a better receiver.

For not coming close to earning his paycheck.

For not being the threat he's being paid to be.

For not being engaged in every play or running every route the way it's drawn up.

For not knowing more routes than the few he does, and not bothering to continue to learn.

Those I "blame" him for.

You're blaming him for something he can't control. You can't control the routes you are asked to run or the football coming your way.

I don’t care what scheme he’s playing in and who’s throwing the ball. 97th for the amount of money he gets paid is unacceptable

97th for this particular measurement. A measurement that, even if it were accurate, doesn't appear to say anything.

Dez Bryant = 2.3
Amari Cooper = 2.4
Antonio Brown = 2.8
Mike Evans = 2.3
Larry Fitzgerald = 2.8
Julio Jones = 2.3
AJ Green = 2.7
TY Hilton = 2.5
DeAndre Hopkins = 2.1
Doug Baldwin = 3.0
Demaryius Thomas = 2.0
Rob Gronkowski = 2.0
Brandin Cooks = 2.5
Emmanual Sanders = 2.7
Jordy Nelson = 2.5
Michael Crabtree = 2.5

That's pretty much a, "who's who", of receiving. The best ranks 26th. I don't think this stat says anything and it might be the most worthless stat I've seen. It doesn't even speak to outcomes. It's a measurement of happenstance.

There are plenty of reasons to both criticize and praise Dez. This stat isn't one I'd use in his, or in any WRs, favor.
