Dez criticism on NFL network

I agree with you to an extent but I will add that Dak isn't doing him any favors. ***THIS IS NOT A BASH DAK STATEMENT *** With Tony at Qb Dez was at his best for 2 reasons. 1. Ball placement was better and 2. Tony trusted Dez more in 1 on 1 coverage. those two things combined allowed Dez to be confident and physical at the point of attack. Dak either forces it too him or doesn't give him a lot of accurate balls. at least this season it looks that way.

But the flipside to this is that Dez doesn't seem to have the same explosion he once had. He's had some 50-50 balls that he should have made a play (or would have made the play if this was 4 years ago) and he failed. The Dez of 4 years ago wouldnt' have alligator armed that one throw in the Eagles game like he did.

I am of the mind that when things go awry, the flaws of everyone involved really come shining through. So right now, we are seeing the flaws of Dak, Dez and this coaching staff really highlighted.

None of these receivers are good at creating separation. They aren't schemed open, so that doesn't help. Dak isn't very accurate, especially when he's constantly under pressure. Dez isn't even close to 2014 Dez.

The issue is systemic. Everyone from the GM to the players on field are sharing a role in the mediocrity. It's clear that the Dez signing was a huge mistake.

Beasley isn't running the correct depth on his routes. Witten hasn't been doing it for years, maybe that's who Dez learned it from.

Beasley basically has two routes. The option in/out based on coverage and the slant. It's no surprise teams have figured out how to defend it.

The Patriots used to run that route and club teams to death with it and the league adjusted, but we're always behind the times so it's no surprise we're running it now. I'm sure we'll start running rub-routes 3 years from now, after the league has figured that out as well.

Yeah, that's obviously. Look at these coaches' pathetic record without him. If not for Dak, who's now getting the abuse, they still be looking like a turtle lying on its back.

Imagine if they actually got their way. Paxton Lynch would be here. That's the stuff of nightmares.

No it doesn't make my day. I'm a Cowboys fan. I'm right. But doesn't mean that I take joy in being right in this instance.

Dez is bad but we could make due with Dez if we 1. Cut his cap hit and 2. Quit forcing him the ball.

That will never work becase 1. He wont take a pay cut and 2. The coaches are pussies and placate Dez by telling Dak to force him the ball. It's maddening.

Dez sucks but this is equally on the coaches as Dez.

What was funny though, is the whole time he's talking, they're running clips of Dez with passes hitting his ankles, two feet behind him, or sailing over his head. One clip he jumps like three feet higher than anyone around him but the ball is still sails six feet over his head. Only one clip had him actually dropping a pass.

I thought it was funny. None of the other talking heads said anything about the passes.

If a WR runs the route at an incorrect depth, then the pass will be off target.

Let them say he's a "top 10 receiver" and worth the top 5 money he's being paid. The only thing they succeed in doing is indicting their own credibility.

This has quickly moved into one of those "cap conversations" that needs to happen between player and management.

Given what an emotional guy Dez is, I can't help but wonder how that conversation will go. But it's obvious that it needs to happen after this season.

Dak is clearly more of a manager then Romo was. In a good way. He simply does NOT feel comfortable just throwing the ball up for grabs like Romo did. He is not built to risk it or wing it. He is a very smart QB and throws to guys that are open. You basically have to overcome the common sense that your brain is telling and throw it anyway.

Dak is clearly more of a manager then Romo was. In a good way. He simply does NOT feel comfortable just throwing the ball up for grabs like Romo did. He is not built to risk it or wing it. He is a very smart QB and throws to guys that are open. You basically have to overcome the common sense that your brain is telling and throw it anyway.

He has 7 picks already this year. Sounds risky to me.

Sideline pass. Dak scrambled, Dez ran what looked like a short out route, stopped and then tried to slide into the gap between the CB and S. Dak threw it, it was high but a catchable ball, but Dez short armed it as he was about to get hit by Malcom Jenkins I believe.

I don't know if he can or the coaches simply don't try it, but I would like to see us use the middle of the field more. Crossing routes, etc. Our offense seems to be jump balls and nothing but short outs.

Our passing game problems are tied to Dak and Dez. That's just reality. As pointed out, his target numbers will seem high but how many are really high quality targets? But on the flipside, he's run some lazy routes at times, he's dropped catchable balls and he's done things like that alligator arms move on the sideline against the Eagles.

Sometimes, things just don't work for whatever reason. It's going to be interesting to see where this "relationship" goes. Dak and Dez can't continue to be on different pages going forward.

I agree that the blame is shared. There seems to be a tendency for fans/commentators to lean one way or the other — Dez isn't any good or Dak isn't throwing him good balls. Those of us who watch our team game in and game out should recognize that sometimes Dez doesn't get open, sometimes he's dropping the ball, sometimes he's running poor routes, sometimes he's not timing his jumps well, while there are plenty of other times where he is open, where Dak just didn't see him or didn't get to him in the progression and where Dak just flat out didn't put the ball where it needed to be.

If we went back during each game and counted the number of time Dez and Dak should have connected, we'd probably be amazed at the number. But they are not connecting like they should and that's a problem.
