Did you hear Stephen's comment or see the quote? I suspect not. Here it is:

In the interview, Jones suggested that Pro Bowl players like Bryant and Jason Witten can put pressure on a young quarterback.

“He’s got to trust the system, which at times last year, there was pressure … with Dez in his ear and to some degree Jason in his ear. Those great players want the ball,” Jones said.

I see absolutely nothing disrespectful towards Dez in the above. Quite the opposite - calling him a great player. Dez is obviously hurt, thin-skinned and overly sensitive. That's not saying he's a bad person, but he does need to move on for his own sake. The Cowboys aren't losing sleep over him so the only one losing in this is Dez.

But this is exactly what Lee's response hammered. Dez 100 percent believes he had no part in the situation he's in. He can't even see despite the playcalling there were many times where he just didn't do his job well enough. This is only going to open a lot of eyes as to why he's not on the team anymore.

Dez’s own issues are his own issues. And for the record, I don’t disagree with you. But that doesn’t change the fact that he has a point in his comments.

Yeah, my first thought was...well there is probably some truth in there about it.

I've been screaming for a decade about Garret's refusal/inability to adapt his archaic offense, so, yeah. But Witten and Lee problems in this team's locker room? I definitely don't see that. I always loved Dez's passion, but maybe if he'd learned to run routes and not had such an issue showing up for meetings and stuff he'd still be a Cowboy. Maybe if he'd made an attempt to take care of business on and off the field Sean Lee would not have had to ask him to step it up. I understand the hate for Garrett's offense. I hate it too. But it's funny seeing Dez rant about it. He made no effort to make it better. To me, a WR pulling down $14 mil a year but has trouble beating press coverage and otherwise getting open and catching balls should be worrying more about doing his job than the intricacy of the playbook. I don't blame the Cowboys for cutting him and I think it's telling that he's still out of work.

He hasn't been himself in about 3 seasons.....He can blame coaching and other players all he wants...but when the ball hits him in the hands are the helmet
and he drops it....then he plainly needs to blame himself... I'm glad he's gone actually, and I don't care what anyone says or thinks about that either...plus

The quote went to another level after the fact, though, when SiriusXM tweeted that excerpt without mentioning Witten

SiriusXM altered the quote (I'm sure because they know Dez is volatile) to illicit a specific response which is completely unprofessional.

This is much more palatable and it’s despicable of them to present it how they did. They’re able to though because it’s in character

He is saying Dez and Jason being in his ear was at least part of Dak's problem last season. How else do you take that?

Most top receivers want the ball, and Jones acknowledges that. Michael Irvin demanded the ball, too, and was in Aikman's ear. The focus of Jones' comments was on Dak playing within the system.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out that great players want the ball. That's a compliment to Dez and Witten. The key was Dak, as a young quarterback, can't let that pressure be a distraction.

If Jones had said something like Dez's poor route-running was the reason the passing game wasn't as good, that would have been a shot. This is a player and some fans being too sensitive when the team mentions a player that was cut. No one is jumping up and down saying that he's blaming Witten for Dak not playing as well as he did in 2016.
