Ok...I'm done defining what fully guaranteed means and the only ways the owners can get out of it.
you don't get to pick and choose what you want to look at. You have to look at how the CBA defines salary in section 10. It specifically says if a player signs a contract then his salary is prorated. that prorated portion is fully guaranteed. Why is this so hard to understand?

Dez won't sit any games, he loves the game way too much. And it's 13 mil guaranteed regardless of how you spin it. Merely a ploy by the agent.

Look on the bright side. The Throatzilla almost faded to the second page.

I believe the deadline for the long term deal is only as it relates to 2015, not 2016 and beyond.

He doesn't want to play on the franchise tag as he wants long term financial stability. He can hold out until week 11 and still accrue a season.

The idea that the Cowboys aren't leveraged by one of their best players sitting out, is ridiculous.

Nothing can be accomplished after July 15th. Holding out of games would be the act of a child., not leverage.

His status will not change until March 2016 and Dallas can just tag him again.

He plays for Dallas for 12.8m or he doesn't play or get paid. There is no better deal to get.

He is only talking about it now because his agents know skipping games in Sept accomplishes nothing.

It is my understanding that he will miss every game check that he holds out. So, if he holds out until week 11, that is nearly 8 figures he is walking away from. This is the guy who had jewelers and pay day loan people knocking down his door a few years ago. I don't think he is fiscally able to walk away from nearly 8 figures and the Cowboys know this.

Bingo. This is it right here.

Jason says he is not worried about it says dez is getting ready to play loves the game loves his team and when its time he will come to work. I hope that is the case but money has destroyed lots of good relationships before and the most important thing to dez Bryant is his contract regardless of who it is whoever pays him the most is who he will play for same as demarco murry

I believe a player can be signed long term, just not for 2015. Someone please correct me if this is not the case.

It's a game of chicken. What is more valuable a few game checks missed now or potential games lost without Dez? To suggest it isn't leverage is ridiculous as I said.

Obviously I would have someone to verify if @Floaty had taken me up on my bet but he didn't.

Lol I wish you would have bet me last season I would have loved to take your money. You wanna lose some this year?

What's obvious no one takes you up on bets because no one takes you serious. LOL You're one of those who challenges posters to bets all the time regardless how bad your odds of winning are because you have no intention of paying. Now class is dismissed.

If Dez was a team player that is making tons of money and wanted a SB and be called a Champion, unlike Murray who went for the money, then he is putting money above his goals as a football player.

Sometimes these idiots don't realize what kind of endorsements a player can get to be a SB Champ.

Murray went to philly for the coin, and if they never win a SB, he will always be thought of as a loser..but a rich one, I guess.

If I were in a position to make millions up on millions to play a game I love with the right opportunity to do so, I stay put and not be a petulant child wanting mo money, mo money, mo money!

I don't begrudge any player trying to get his money. It's his body, his career.
Having said that, I simply can't get worried about stuff like this. It's part of the game. The only people who are going to look out for your best interest are you.
If Dez gets hurt in the service of the Dallas Cowboys, they're not going to continue to pay him the fullness of his contract. So he has to do what he has to do to protect himself or make as much as he can. And I aint gonna hate on him for that.

I agree and disagree.

If this were baseball, I'd bet Dez would already have his 5 years/$85 mil. with $45 mil. or whatever guaranteed. But this isn't baseball. The Cowboys have a finite amount of money to build a team with, and if they give $17 mil. a year to Dez for the next half decade (What, almost $5 mil./yr. more than anyone but CJ?) it will be at the expense of keeping good players at other positions. Players deserve what they can get, when they can get it, but at some point the money they demand becomes enough that it damages the team. What this comes down to is the team's performance in the first few games. We win, Dez can sit all he wants. We lose, Jerry will need to reevaluate his position.

Now you're making stuff up, and looking stupid in the process. Floaty is the only person on this forum who I issued a bet out to. 1 person means I challenge people to bets all the time? Lolol schooling you is getting old man. Just go back to deep throating the Eagles and let me and the rest of the cowboys FANS enjoy getting hype about our season:thumbup:

Common sense would imply that I'm not including you KJJ. We're talking about posters who I have tried to bet before you. Which is a grand total of 1. Lol stop wasting my time dude

The only so-called "leverage" I can see Dez having is his willingness to sacrifice 750k per game in order to get his point across. He would be deliberately hurting the team and himself at the same time. A case of pouting unlike anyone's ever seen before, and to nobody's benefit.

I hope he's smarter than that. Because if he actually goes through with this, I'd be tagging him again so fast it would make his head spin. Then, let the phone ringing begin. We cut a deal and move on.
