I think this is the bottom line. WR market is declining in value. Same thing that has happened to RB market starting a few years ago.

Agents want to base contracts off of Megatrons. Teams don't agree. Teams might also be colluding to hold out on the players.

What will probably happen - something Condon probably doesn't want to happen - is Dez is going to get so upset that he is going to request to meet face to face with Jerry. And then Jerry is going to get him to agree to something reasonable.

Dear lord please

Maclin: 85 catches, 1318 yards, 15.5 ypc, 10 TDs
Bryant: 88 catches, 1320 yards, 15.0 ypc, 16 TDs

And how much is Bryant wanting?! and now he and his agent I talking hold out...geez. C'mon on Dez, your a better person than that..

just FYI..Jeremy Maclin signed a 5 year, $55,000,000 contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, including a $12,000,000 signing bonus, $22,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $11,000,000. In 2015, Maclin will earn a base salary of $750,000, a signing bonus of $12,000,000 and a workout bonus of $250,000. Maclin has a cap hit of $3,400,000 while his dead money value is $22,500,000

Did you really just compare Maclin to Dez? http://imagizer.*************/a/img23/2269/awalkerhuh.png

See stats will **** a persons head up. Dez saw way more double teams than Maclin.

It's like Comparing a Lambo to a Lexus. So just because they both got to Publix at the same time, there is no huge difference?

If Dez sits out 10 games he loses 7.5m this year. If he were to get 17m/yr instead of a likely 13.5-14m the team is offering it would take 2.5 seasons to even make that difference up. If he wants to hold firm to 17m/yr and what can be assumed to be 50m+ guaranteed call his bluff.

If he sits multiple games this season and next he's going to cost himself more than his game checks. No team is going to run out and give him a huge contract fearing what will happen when he's unhappy with his deal or all the guaranteed money is gone and he wants a new deal all of a sudden. Sitting out is a dumb thing to do. Period.

Like I said, it would keep the cowboys from putting the tag on him again in 2016, thinking he might sit out games again.
He can sit out games until he signs the tender, once he signs he has to play or be fined.

No need to worry till after july 15 and then if no contract, see what happens in TC and PS.
if after july 15 he is still saying he will sit some games , then he might actually do it.
I Imagine dez sees no contract that he wants as a slap in the face ,m so payback is justified.

ah, ok buddy.

The point was.. Dez is a great player, but if he's wanting $17mil a year as reported..thats just ridiculous and he's not worried about the future of the Dallas Cowboys. I am. I'm a fan and realize no one player is going to make our team go to the SB.
If he wants to get Megatron money..Well, I hope he gets it somewhere else. There is plenty of talent on this team that will need to get paid also.. and the fact is.. you cant pay them all top dollar. For a player that only touches the ball 4-6 times a game, i'd rather move on and trade him instead of handcuffing the entire team to the salary cap.

point above is you can get similar production from another player at a significantly lower cost.

and to your Lambo reference... let me enlighten you. no offense, but Maclin is faster and repeatedly drew double teams.. that would make him the Lambo and Dez is acting more like the Lexus right now. (high price car for same production as a Toyota)

Maclin had 1 good year
Dez 3 in a row and the arrow continues to point up.

Oh yeah, I'd like to see Maclin with Alex Smith throwing to him. :lmao:

Jerra will budge. Wants to budge but Stephen wont let him thank goodness.

Stephen can't stop him from budging unless Jerry wants to not budge. listening to Stephen is going to have him out of the playoffs again if he is not careful. Stephen is getting to smart for the cowboys good. no Murray and no Dez. NO PLAYOFFS.

I don't think it has any impact at all on franchising him next year. If he decides to sit 10 games this year he will lose $8m. Is he really going sit out another 10 games next year and lose another $10m? At that point thats almost the difference in what the team is offering and what he wants. Not to mention the stigma he will surround himself with if this is the route he really wants to take.

And 3 years from now you'll be the first one bashing the team for giving Dez some stupid contract when they can't sign a young All-Pro OL. It's always a team sport until it fits a particular agenda though right?

Jerry will probably end up paying him close to what he wants. We are close and Jerry is getting old...Not much time left.

Did I say you were stupid for believing that the team would be better?
I didn't believe the team would be better last year. But I've already admitted I was wrong.
Do you know how many fans had proclaimed the Cowboy would be better year after year and they were mediocre?
Hip, hip hooray. Your optimism finally paid off. I have a golden cookie for you. LOL!

I agree and disagree.

If this were baseball, I'd bet Dez would already have his 5 years/$85 mil. with $45 mil. or whatever guaranteed. But this isn't baseball. The Cowboys have a finite amount of money to build a team with, and if they give $17 mil. a year to Dez for the next half decade (What, almost $5 mil./yr. more than anyone but CJ?) it will be at the expense of keeping good players at other positions. Players deserve what they can get, when they can get it, but at some point the money they demand becomes enough that it damages the team. What this comes down to is the team's performance in the first few games. We win, Dez can sit all he wants. We lose, Jerry will need to reevaluate his position.

I've already said I don't think Dez will get $17 million. That's just a negotiating price.

this is what prisoner of the moment will do to you. maclin had never even broken a thousand yards prior to last season. he has never broken 10 touchdowns. He has a history of knee injuries. These kind of things factor into contract discussions. Dez is a year younger, playing in a run first system. He is worth more than maclin.

Not saying that dez is worth 17 million, but likely a number floated out there because the cowboys would like to only pay him 10 million per annum, and dez+agent want to raise that number to meet them in the middle. Nobody ever gives the number that they realistically expect, they overshoot and negotiate from there.

Is Dez as good as Andre Johnson was in his prime? Is he as good as Randy Moss was in his? I'd say not YET. You don't ever mortgage the farm for any player besides a QB. A great OL can make up for a ton of deficiencies.
