Common sense would imply that I'm not including you KJJ. We're talking about posters who I have tried to bet before you. Which is a grand total of 1. Lol stop wasting my time dude

Sorry, but you claimed you only bet ONE poster and that was after you challenged me. LOL If you're that quick to challenge someone who isn't predicting doom and gloom for this season you'll issue a bet to anyone. You've been exposed now run along before you have to stay after class.

Lol I wish you would have bet me last season I would have loved to take your money. You wanna lose some this year?

Get him out of here.

If him wanting $17 million a year is true, then we might as well trade him now because there's no way that the team would (and shouldn't) sign him for that kind of money.

If he holds out or signs the franchise tag, he won't give it his all. He's a fantastic player but I don't think this team crumbles if he's gone. We'll miss his red-zone productivity but this team can win without him.

no time to sift through 200+ posts but question.....is there a definitive quote from Dez on this, and wanting $17M/yr or is this ultimately "reports through sources"?

No sources. Just one of the talking heads on ESPN saying he heard Dez wanted 17m and Dallas wanted to pay 14m.

Not even Scheffty or Mort, just some random ex-player.

You claimed Floaty was the only person on this forum who you issued a bet out to. You issue out so many bets you can't even remember one that you issued out to me an hour ago. LOL Sorry but your credibility has just taken a big hit.

Now you're making stuff up, and looking stupid in the process. Floaty is the only person on this forum who I issued a bet out to.

I wonder how much cringing people would have done had they had so much access to players, salaries and whatnot in the past. As it stands we only get a speck of what's going on and don't even know how much is true.

I think this is the bottom line. WR market is declining in value. Same thing that has happened to RB market starting a few years ago.

Agents want to base contracts off of Megatrons. Teams don't agree. Teams might also be colluding to hold out on the players.

What will probably happen - something Condon probably doesn't want to happen - is Dez is going to get so upset that he is going to request to meet face to face with Jerry. And then Jerry is going to get him to agree to something reasonable.

Frankly, we've seen teams with great quarterbacks do fine without elite receivers. We've seen Romo do it with Austin as the number 1 here. We were 11-5 and in the divisional round of the playoffs in '09 with Austin. Same result as last year.

Agreed. How many SB's has Detroit won since signing Megatron? Nuff said..

I really like Dez and I'm hoping for a solution that fits him and the team. Fact is.. No one player is bigger than the TEAM! That's the essence of the word.

Like many on here have posted already.. I'll truly be disappointed if Dez sits out games bc of this. I will never look at him the same way again. I've rooted for the guy since the day he was drafted, but if he's willing to piss away almost a million dollars for every game missed just to prove a point... I don't care how anyone wants to spin it..thats just ridiculous. He's guaranteed to make nearly $13mil dollars to play a GAME, meanwhile I'm busting my *** to support my family. I just don't want to hear the crap!

sure. And the cowboys may rescind the offer altogether.

I see the odds of both being roughly equal.

I heard on NFLnw that Stephen Jones said he feels good about getting Dez signed long term before July 15th.

That's a bit more optimistic than I've heard recently.

Saying we an win without him is a joke. Garrets system is about beating the other guy physically. Without double coverage on dez, im sorry, our current WR wont be beaint anyone physically
I see you get it. Garrett...or whomever has been running this offense...has not been challenged to "scheme" it up since he has been here. They are using the 90s model with a dominating offensive line....a bell cow like Emmit....and a physical WR like Irvin. So everyone thinking we can just become Sean Payton or whatever they are doing in New England overnight....really are not paying attention to how we approach offense.

I don't know how much Dez camp wants. But I do know Dez has been UNDER paid for a long time. And I do not recall the team or the fans complaining about that.
These kids have money made off of them from high school , to college and everyone feels there is a just reason NOT to pay them at these levels. So now they FINALLY get to the professional level..and it is time to FINALLY get paid....and everyone STILL has a problem with them getting paid.

We are not talking about Alvin Harper here folks...we are talking about a top 3 WR in the NFL...who our ENTIRE passing game is built around. DEZ...allows all of our other receving targets to flourish. His impact cannot be measured in stats.

Like I said...if he is asking to be paid like a top 3 WR.....then guess what...he should...becaues he IS a top 3 WR!

If there's no deal, Bryant will probably hold out through the start of the preseason simply because everyone hates the preseason.... but I highly doubt he misses any real action.

It is my understanding that he will miss every game check that he holds out. So, if he holds out until week 11, that is nearly 8 figures he is walking away from. This is the guy who had jewelers and pay day loan people knocking down his door a few years ago. I don't think he is fiscally able to walk away from nearly 8 figures and the Cowboys know this.

Bingo. This is it right here.

The Cowboys did something with his contract back then to advance him money to pay that off. I don't remember the specifics, but they did him a favor, IIRC.

Maclin: 85 catches, 1318 yards, 15.5 ypc, 10 TDs
Bryant: 88 catches, 1320 yards, 15.0 ypc, 16 TDs

And how much is Bryant wanting?! and now he and his agent I talking hold out...geez. C'mon on Dez, your a better person than that..

just FYI..Jeremy Maclin signed a 5 year, $55,000,000 contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, including a $12,000,000 signing bonus, $22,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $11,000,000. In 2015, Maclin will earn a base salary of $750,000, a signing bonus of $12,000,000 and a workout bonus of $250,000. Maclin has a cap hit of $3,400,000 while his dead money value is $22,500,000

Based on the salary cap, 143.28 million, and 53 players on the roster, 3.1 million is the average salary per player on the active roster. 17 million dollars is equivalent to more than 5 players collecting an average salary. The franchise tag puts him at 4 times the average of an active roster player. This whole discussion takes on a different feel when he is compared to his TEAMMATES.

Is Dez worth it, or should Dallas put their money elsewhere???
