Dez tweet today

You are playing a game of semantics here.

Bryant can play for one more year at $13MM. Jones can play for one more year at $10MM. Risks are the same to both men. Or both can throw a pity party and not show up. If they don't show up, they cost themselves their paychecks this year.

Dez is currently not under contract, Julio Jones is currently under contract, when Dez was still under contract last year he showed up. While the risks are the same for two guys who don't have a long tern deal they are in completely different boats, one has a contract where he is obligated to show up and one guy doesn't.

Ummm, they are kind of in the same boat. Jones has one year left on his deal at $10MM. For all intents and purposes, if Bryant wants to play football and get paid, he has one year on his deal at $13MM. The risks are exactly the same to both men. If they play this year and get seriously hurt to the point their careers are in jeopardy, they run the risk of losing future major earnings.

So yes, Jones and Bryant are kind of in the same boat.

Julio Jones is taking the high road, staying focused on the his team, and his teammates. In contrast to DEZ ...who is acting INMATURE, using Social Media to VENT his feelings, is Demanding and Threatening to hold out.... Miss Games.and not focused on the team and teammates.....DEZ is acting like kid telling a mother...... I want a new car or I am not going to school... POOR DEZ..wont come to work for $13Mil... GROW UP

He has been franchised, so the money is already on the table. If he doesn't play on Sunday, he is losing money.

We'll be ok? Elaborate please, who's bringing the ball down in the end zone? Who's taking double coverage? Our rb situation is a joke right now and you think we will be ok losing the biggest offensive weapon we have? Give me some of what your smoking.

I'm smoking Defense and Team Wins. Want sum?

Dez could fall on his fragile shoulder or get injured with an absorbent cap number, then what will you be smoking.

Again its semantics.

If Bryant wants to get paid, he has to play under the contract in front of him. The fact he hasn't signed his tender is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. What's Bryant going to do? Sit out the next two years and not get paid a penny because he technically could not sign the tag this year or next year? Of course not.

Plus, it gets back to his argument about how he wants "security". Well Julio Jones also wants security. But he's not squawking about it in the media/twitter.

Julio is under contract just like Dez was last year, and just like Dez last year he's showing up and playing out his agreed upon deal.

Which is still semantics despite your protestations. Both want long term security beyond this season. Both only have an option right now to be paid for one more year. Jones could very easily hold out if he wants. It would cost him but Bryant not signing his tender and not playing will cost him as well. The fact Bryant showed up last year is meaningless. Because he's under the same circumstances now - one year left to get paid.

You can keep saying what you are saying but in the grand scheme of things, the situations really aren't all that different.

Well you enjoy being wrong

They are totally diffrerent situations despite your posturing them as the same.

With a contract you have to show up or be fined Julio will show up just as Dez did last year without complaint

Dez has no contract currently, yes he has one in front of him unsighed but it is unsigned therefore him not showing up is NOT holding out he is not signed.

He will be there for training camp after he signs the 1 year deal if a long term deal is not worked out

If he can get a good insurance policy that would pay him 30-60 million if injured bad, then that would make it better.
I have to wonder what payments would be on that type policy , and how hard would it be to collect.
Might be better if the team guaranteed it and they have the ins. policy.
Jerry has the money to pay if that happened and he could have the ins. and it would be off the cap.

If Dez signed for 2.8, so would Dez. There is no reason the Cowboys should have to pay for an insurance policy. However, if they decided that this is what they would do, I would also be OK with that. Regardless, there is no reason to be fearful of an injury situation, above and beyond the face of it, if you get franchised. There are options to protect yourself as a player.

I remember when Haley went buck-wild in the locker-room because Dallas was playing hardball with Emmitt, despite Emmitt still being 'under contract'. Good times..

Before the corny comments ensue, I'd like to remind people this is a BUSINESS. Just because you'd take $13 million in a heartbeat doesn't mean Dez should. He has every right to maximize his value and financial security for his family.

I agree with this somewhat but 13 mil is an awful lot of money. Just think of the endorsement deals that would come his way if we can build a team that goes to the superbowl. Let's say he becomes the MVP of SB. He'd be set for life after that. I think there's more potential to make more money by being able to be on a team that wins the SB.

#family...if you play for the Commanders. Yes take them for all their worth if you play for a bad team.

Its not about contracts....Its about how DEZ chooses to VENT his demands and threats on Social Media vs a player who is saying and doing the right things....One is being professional the other showing his immaturity......

Many of you must have missed when a picture of Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star Andrew McCutchen's pay stub leaked a month or two ago. The amount of taxes that get taken out of a professional athletes salary are ridiculous, and it kind of puts into perspective Latrell Sprewell's famous "make enough to feed my family" quote.

Now, do I expect anyone to feel sorry for McCutchen or Dez? Of course not, they're still multimillionaires, but $13 million to Dez Bryant isn't exactly $13 million going directly into his bank account.

This pay stub hopefully with shut up all the posters who say come to TX where there is NO income tax! As I have stated numerous times you get taxed where you play at game wise.

A guy playing for a team based in, say, Pennsylvania is going to be paying state taxes for 8 home games and most of the road games they play in, whereas a player for a Texas team would only be on the hook for the road games.

Biiiiiiiiiig difference.

True. But that wasn't my point. It was for the posters that always say come here because you won't pay any, which is a myth.

I understand that, but I think it's important to keep that fact in mind when comparing what the team is willing to offer Dez versus what other top tier WR's are being paid.
