Dez waited 5 years...he did his thing. Now pay the man as a top 3 wr in the nfl. Jerry get this done..I'm ok losing some pieces...definitely would have a major problem if we lose the heart and soul of them team, I can guarantee you that.

Even Michael Jordan made Dez wait a year to get his Nike money. Dez will get paid he just needs to earn it year to year.

I don't think he is the heart and soul. Ohh sure, everybody says that, teammates toe the line, Dez gets on camera for blowing up and yelling. Media spins it, fans buy it. But I think the real heart and soul of this team, is a combination of other areas....

I may be jumping the gun on this, but I think the real heart and soul of this team has become........."everybody go ahead and cringe".....but I think the real heart and soul is Jason Garrett....... or is becoming Jason Garrett. And if he can win a Super Bowl in the next few years, then we have our leader for team after team for the next 15 years....If Jason Garret can win. Then we actually have something; These other winning franchises, have a culture that wins. No matter who is playing at WR.

Now, Dez has become one of the best, if not the best, WR in the NFL. The guy will go up and bring down the rock. Thats a nice option to have on your football team.

Listen to what S jones says at end, that makes me think there will be no contract unless deZ and condon thake jones offer or come
close to it.
Jones says "we dont really care what they think", so it sounds lie no contract.

I have beaten them up pretty good over the RB position. And I still think they bumbled and fumbled that position this offseason.

But the new attitude the Cowboys have taken, coming from the FO all the way down to coaches, is...............................refreshing;

Buh Bye

Here's hoping your shoulder holds up. You're welcome for the right track the Cowboys put you on. Good luck in the future staying healthy @ 17 Mil. because if you don't you'll catch Hell and ruin your team no matter who that is. You are a selfish Player.

Hold out for the whole season if you want. We'll be okay, GO Cowboys!

TEAM WINS

We'll be ok? Elaborate please, who's bringing the ball down in the end zone? Who's taking double coverage? Our rb situation is a joke right now and you think we will be ok losing the biggest offensive weapon we have? Give me some of what your smoking.

It's not about 'making ends meet', it's about the fact that if he were allowed to look elsewhere he would very likely make a lot more than $13 million a year.

I won't begrudge a man for trying to make things better for himself even if we are talking about a boatload of money.

Your college analogy and your comparison of Martin and Zach are so off base I don't know where to begin.

For starters the likelihood that an abnormally large and abnormally strong and abnormally fast man could crash into me and end my earning potentially is vastly different in college verses in the national football league. That's why I'd be more interested in maximizing my earnings potential as soon as possible verses when I was getting drunk and chasing coeds.

Also yes I except Martin to earn less than free. And I think that's fair. I except a prized new associate at our firm to warn less than a senior vice president despite their relative first year performance. Wouldn't you?

And again nobody has claimed that Dez should make Calvin money. But he should be among the highest paid players on a long term deal at his position. It's the curse of having really great players. You get to pay them.

That's as bad as Peterson's modern day slavery quote. Most of the population won't make $13M in their entire lifetimes and he is asking where is his security? ***** please!

You are worth a lot as a football player, but take your $17M/year request and go play for Tampa.

13 million isn't sufficient enough? Haha if I broke my neck I would be so damn happy with 13 million. The problem is these guys wants money in case they get hurt. ........I'm going to tell my boss to pay me money that way if I get hurt I have money coming to me I didn't earn

Your probably don't live the lifestyle 97% of these ballers live.

I'm pretty sure he would, if the Cowboys weren't trying to handcuff him.

By the way, can show us where it says for sure he is requesting 17M? You seem very confident that is the amount he is requesting by the way you are talking. So please show us.

What? The lifestyle of buying Escalades for all my friends like Dez is doing? He needs security from himself, because that's stupid.

Read the forum.

Oh I read the forum. There is no official quote from Dez, Jerry, Stephen, his agent ect...that it is indeed 17 M that he's asking for.

I need you to show me. The way you sounded was as if 1 existed.

Dez---"-5 years without complaining"----sure he put up yards on pure physical ability, but heck he was still running routes that cost INT's (and maybe games) yet in 2013..........His 1st 3/4 years were a "training wage"......

He's also under contract, get back with me next year when he's in the same boat as Dez

Ummm, they are kind of in the same boat. Jones has one year left on his deal at $10MM. For all intents and purposes, if Bryant wants to play football and get paid, he has one year on his deal at $13MM. The risks are exactly the same to both men. If they play this year and get seriously hurt to the point their careers are in jeopardy, they run the risk of losing future major earnings.

So yes, Jones and Bryant are kind of in the same boat.

By the way......... I keep hearing people say, "He did his thing for 5 years" pay him.

Well.......... what also happened in those 5 years was that he continued to be a pain in the *** off the field. Now he wasn't murdering people or raping people but he was a headache for this organization, etc. And anyone who thinks a majority of NFL organizations don't put a ton of value in how a player conducts himself off the field before handing him a Top 3 contract at a specific position is fooling themselves.

If Bryant was a choir boy off the field, I bet this thing would be a hell of a lot easier to get done.

No Dez Byrant last year was in the same boat as Julio Jones this year and if I recall correctly Dez showed up

You are playing a game of semantics here.

Bryant can play for one more year at $13MM. Jones can play for one more year at $10MM. Risks are the same to both men. Or both can throw a pity party and not show up. If they don't show up, they cost themselves their paychecks this year.
