Before the corny comments ensue, I'd like to remind people this is a BUSINESS. Just because you'd take $13 million in a heartbeat doesn't mean Dez should. He has every right to maximize his value and financial security for his family.

Why should we pay 17m when everyone can agree that Megatron contract was a huge mistake?13m will make him the second highest paid WR. 17m is QB money.

That's not the point.

He's top 3 (I'd say #1) WR.

He deserves to be compensated for it.

What if you were the best at your job in your company, but were getting paid significantly less than your colleagues?

Wouldn't you be asking for more money? Get a new job, maybe?

Name the top 10 receivers who played in the Super Bowl this year.

It's not about ability. It's about what an elite receiver is worth to a football team.

Simply put, teams aren't winning championships with elite receivers.

If all he wants is 13 million per year with big guaranteed, I would say this is all on the front office. That is a great deal.

13 million per year for 7 years, first 4 years guaranteed.

If anything happens, it will not happen until July 14th. So, get ready to hear about this for a month.

Absolutely, but this is the system the union agreed to. Dez has only two options: (1) sign the tender and make more money this season than he has earned in his entire career to date; (2) refuse to sign and earn squat. Now which one of those is in the best interests of his family?

That isn't sufficient security if he goes out there and breaks his neck.

Zordon is completely right about this, although relativity is often lost on the masses.

Not to lecture, but.....

Money is not a reward. It's a reflection of value. And value is determined by how disposable something or someone is. If the world was covered in diamonds, they wouldn't be worth anything. Likewise, a single apple in a room full of starving people is worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Dez is not replaceable, so his value is high. However, Super Bowls are not won with elite receivers recently, so his value is more limited than he realizes.

That's the crux of what is a difficult negotiation.

I think he means playing for the franchise # this year is cool but he wants the security of a long term deal. I don't think he means he'd take a long term deal for $13 million a year.

I think you're right and this tweet is not about contract negotiations so much as it's him addressing the "selfish" backlash he's getting from his threats to miss game(s) next season because a long term deal isn't done.

Dez needs to stay off twitter right now. and not worry or care about what Moose Johnson or anyone thinks. ity's time for him to hold strong and get his money. if i were him, i would not care what anyone thinks. i would get all the money i can. nothing wrong with that. Murray proved that is always some team out there willing to pay your price. Dez needs to stay strong.

It's the agents.
If the agent told Dez to take 14 mil/year and 30-35 guaranteed, he'd do it in a second...and so would Dallas.

He's right. He plays like an elite wideout he should be paid as such. He puts is body on the line wk in and out while the owners sot back and rack in more than he can ever imagin. What's wrong with him getting a piece of the pie? He's a player we cannot afford to los.

There's nothing wrong with him getting a piece of the pie and requesting financial security, he has the right to be selfish just like owners are.

Do the deal.

Six years, worth $65 million and $35M in guaranteed money. That’s more than everyone else but Megatron. If Bryant balks at that, then you can play hardball all you like. The Cowboys are on the verge of something really special. It would be a colossal mistake to jeopardize that by alienating one of the reasons you’re this close.

Get the deal done.

Right now it's better then market value. The Franchise is designed to pay market value so if his Tag number is 12.8, then 13 would be slightly better then that, at this point.

13m and 35m guarantee is close but I still think it will take 14m and 40m guarantee. And I'm still not sure he will come down that much or the cowboys are willing to come up that much.If that can't get it done then franchise him the next 2 yrs.
