I may be wrong or the only person right in this thread but I think he's talking to the people that are asking why he doesn't want to play for the franchise tag and he's asking them what happens if he gets hurt.. Then what? 0 dollars.

We saw the linebacker Holloman suffer a career ending injury and in a game like football you. Can't bet on your health when it comes to kissing away that much money.

Dez needs to stay off twitter right now. and not worry or care about what Moose Johnson or anyone thinks. ity's time for him to hold strong and get his money. if i were him, i would not care what anyone thinks. i would get all the money i can. nothing wrong with that. Murray proved that is always some team out there willing to pay your price. Dez needs to stay strong.

I think his tweet is aimed at the backlash he's getting from threatening to sit out games next season more than the current state of negotiations. If that's the case and he's not happy with the franchise tag, he should blame the NFLPA and not hold the Cowboys and fans hostage. The Cowboys are proceeding w/i their rights, which were negotiated and accepted by his union.

Do the deal.

Six years, worth $65 million and $35M in guaranteed money. That’s more than everyone else but Megatron. If Bryant balks at that, then you can play hardball all you like. The Cowboys are on the verge of something really special. It would be a colossal mistake to jeopardize that by alienating one of the reasons you’re this close.

Get the deal done.

I seriously doubt Condon and Bryant would take that deal.

I have no problem with Dez (or any other athlete) going for as much money as possible, but it's not like the team is asking him to play for the league minimum. $13 mil guaranteed for one season ought to be enough to set anyone up for the rest of their life.

13 mill for one season. Between agents fees and taxes, let's generously say he got 60% of that. That's 7.8 mill for a year. Let's say he suffers a career ending injury. He's done. 7.8 mill to live on for another 50+ years. That's about 150k per year. You make 150k per year and you are doing OK. However, that is not the sort of cash that he's seen handed out to teammates and others in the league.

Folks may hear 13 mill and shut down at that point, but the dude does have a point. He's likely looking for the sort of 50 mill guarantee that top players in this league get.

5 years at $13mil/yr with $35-40mil guaranteed I think is a win win. I can't see this as the case tho, considering the Jones' earlier comment on the gap being so big at the moment

Not really.

5 years at 16 mill with 50 mill guaranteed is more reasonable.

He'll never take 13 mill a year as he could make more than that being franchised again in 2016.

He would still be very rich. $13m is more than most people make in a lifetime.

And a lot less than elite WR make in a lifetime. That's the comparison you'd need to make

That's not the point.

He's top 3 (I'd say #1) WR.

He deserves to be compensated for it.

What if you were the best at your job in your company, but were getting paid significantly less than your colleagues?

Wouldn't you be asking for more money? Get a new job, maybe?

It's not the maximizing value @BoysFan4ever is taking issue with, if I read her correctly. It's the "family1" hashtag.

If Dez believes he's worth that much, fine. But dragging his family in it as if he/they are going to be struggling if he takes a paltry $13 million is laughable.

I think people are like, "Please stop insulting our intelligence when many people have a family of father, mother and children and make wwwaaayyy fewer dollars than $13 million a year."

When many high-priced athletes say it's about taking care of their families in an attempt to squeeze out a few more million dollars, it comes across as disingenuous.

That isn't the issue with the tweet. There is no problem with trying to get as much money as one can. Especially market value. The issue is making it out like you don't have security with an amount of money, that if half way decently invested, the next several generations will never have to work a day in their lives.

Again - it isn't security compared to what others in the league and even on his team have. He's the best damn player on the team. He should have the security that comes with that

Without Murray and Dez, the cowboys are on the verge of nothing. nothing but what we have seen the last almost 20 years. some of you bettter get out of your dream world.you aint making the playoffs with T. Williams as your number one WR. or with Joe Randall as your main RB. stop fooling yourselves.

Anyone see Andrew McCutcheon's pay stub?

13 mil ain't 13 mil for these athletes. No where near.

Limited years of earning opportunity and risk of serious injury.

Gotta make it while they can.

Let both sides negotiate, let Dez vent.

For wanting to be the highest paid WR, topping a stupid contract that's an aberration mind you, is being selfish and a bit greedy. IF the reports are accurate and he wants 17/yr and 50m+ guaranteed, yes thats being selfish and frankly unreasonable if he really wants a long-term deal. You have to give a little to get and his agent doesn't want to do that.

Again, I don't have any issue with players trying to get as much as they can. That's not the issue. It's when they bring up security or hardship, that it enters the realm of absurdity. Go ahead and try to get what you're worth, but don't make it out like you got it rough.
