Dez has a huge cap hit and we don't utilize what he can do. We also seem to potentially play better without him.

If the team decided they were willing to part with him:

1. what do you think the trade compensation would be?

2. What would you trade him for and why?

Not sure about Dez but I would trade you for a bag of chips. Value size.

1st And a 2nd, nothing less.. He’s a game changer and in the right scheme is still very dangerous...

I would trade him for a first no questions asked to get rid of his albatross of a contract regardless of where the pick was in the first. I would give serious consideration to trading him for a second round pick.

I would do the deal for a second and a third. I'm not sure I would cut him loose for a third round pick but I sure would like to get rid of that huge cap hit.

Dez does better in a gunslinger offense like he had with Romo.

Dak is more methodical and cautious as a young player so there’s not as many run around until you get open plays like Tony had. He also doesn’t have great accuracy or touch deep which hurts Dez for jump balls.

Dez isn’t Julio (best athlete in the game with speed and jumping ability) and he’s not Irvin (great route runner). Dez would be great with a QB like Rodgers or Stafford

I get what you are saying but who replaces him? It sucks that in the Dak Era his stats suck but on the outside he is the only guy teams are scared of. Yeah Beasley is bothersome in the slot but it is not like the Cowboys run the NE offense with NE QB. Get rid of Dez and teams will dare you to beat their corners 1 on 1 and rest would stack the line.

Im not sure any team is afraid of Dez. They single cover him now and he only catches about 50 percent of his targets.

Good lord the over exaggeration of how valuable Dez is sometimes around here and from Dallas fans in general. Why? Did you see this offense last year without him? Not only did they not miss a beat, they actually looked better and more crisp. Dez bogs down this offense because we feel the need to force feed him. For several reasons.

Teams aren't scared of Dez like they used to be. Any generic DB can usually make it hard for him. For Dez's contract and what he actually gives you in performance, it's not worth it.

Just to join in the spirit of discussion, why haven't the Cowboys restructed Dez contract since they signed the big one.
They've restructured others and he certainly is a big contract.

Nobody and I mean nobody would give us a first-rounder for Dez.

I think our best bet is to get him to reduce his salary and play inside cuz he's no longer a viable option outside he just can't outrun anybody.
Used to leap three feet up in the air and out jump every DB by at least a foot so it didn't matter if Romo threw it long or short if Dez had to stand and wait he went up and got the ball he no longer does that because he knows he'll get hurt.

Think it's just a matter if time.

If, and I'm not implying they are, but IF they are planning on cutting ties with him in a year or two they may not want to push any more of his big $$ down the road.

I thought it was interesting when the Colts were dangling TY HIlton before the deadline.
