Dez: Vikings won't let that happen

He could sit to force Minnesota's hand, it's the only leverage he has.

He has all the leverage. You are overestimating his desire to leave MINN. There are 13m reasons to stay.

Nobody made an offer before the Draft because nobody will trade for that contract.

AZ, SD, JAX all drafted RBs. Only TB and DAL passed.

Let's say Peterson really only wants to play for Dallas.

His people would've reached out behind the scenes and made it clear.

He tells MINN he won't renegotiate his contract for anyone so don't bother making a trade offer. If you want me it's 3/45m and that includes staying in MINN.

MINN either has to keep and pay a disgruntled Peterson or cut him loose and move on with a new young team and new staduim

DAL swoops in when he is released and signs him to a more reasonable deal. That is why they didn't draft anyone and only signed DMC.

DAL then gets hit with tampering charges.

Everyone brings up the Walker trade, but I highly doubt there is anyone left in the FO of vikings that was even around during that trade. That trade is more lore than substance now.

You never ever forget the Walker trade, as it is engraved in history. Especially Minnesota fans and their organization it will be remembered for generations to come.

I disagree completely. The Cowboys have played this off-season absolutely perfectly and it's been from a measure of patience. When the entire NFL went on the annual fire sale (FA) the usual Mensa crowd around here was going out of their minds. "This front office is so stupid". "Why aren't we doing anything?!" Lo and behold, the Cowboys played it slow and got EXACTLY the guy they had targeted when the off-season began (Hardy) and by being patient (and not bidding against themselves) they got him on the lowest risk/highest reward type of deal that they could have possibly struck.

Fast forward to the draft. Same bull****. Keyboard experts slamming every pick. Screaming to trade up for Gregory when he still 6-8 picks away. The Cowboys sat still and didn't give up a single pick to land (arguably) the best pure pass rusher in this past draft.

The Cowboys are going to let AP do the dirty work and when the franchise is tired of his act, Dallas is going to swoop in and take care of business (if in fact AP ends up here). I, personally, don't think its going to happen. But, if it does, it will be because the Cowboys (once again) played it perfectly.

It's got to happen, or my signature is worthless!

I think you're missing the very real possibility that minnesota just wants to keep their franchise running back.

Dez is right. The Vikes are actually going to be a better team this year than many here seem to be thinking. They improved to 7-9 in the first year of a new system with a new HC and new offensive philosophy. Despite losing AP, their starting QB, the right side of their OL, some snaps at OC relatively early in the season. They've found a young QB-maybe-for the first time in years, and are coming off a really good draft. With CHI reorganizing and DET losing that DL, they're a definite dark horse in the NFCN.

And don't underestimate how unpopular it would be in MIN for them to give up the reverse-Herschel. The team might go against public opinion for the right deal, but they aren't doing it at a discount. And they're not going to cut AD this season, anyway. Next year, after you've got two years under your young QB, have drafted your RB replacement relatively high in the draft, and have gotten some distance from the current standoff (NFL owners don't like players under contract trying to shake loose through the press). They're overpaying him this season, no doubt, but not by so much that they have to make a move. If anything, they could give him more guaranteed money and smooth everything all over. I think that's almost as likely as cutting him outright next season at this point.

Would have been nice to see him in Dallas for the right price, but it's very very unlikely at this point for this season.

Oakland was also rumored to be interested.

Yes in history maybe to Vikings fans but the organization, no one there was even there during the trade they is likely little sting and hesitancy there based on the Walker trade.

I dont see the vikings willing to pay AD 14 million for the next 3 years,if they talk paycut with him then he will laugh in their faces.

Winner picks losers signature for a year.

Duh... that is a sig bet. I'm talking about are you saying Dez and Dallas will strike a multiyear deal by June 1 and Dez won't be on the franchise tag? Because that's what I'm hearing you say and I say him being on a franchise tag was always the only plan for Dez.

I thought you were saying the Cowboys didn't plan on re-signing him.

He might play on the franchise tag this year, but he will eventually be signed to a long term deal with the Cowboys.
