Love Dez both as a player and based on his intangibles, but to me Wide Receivers are the offensive equivalent of Cornerbacks. They need too much around them to go right for what they do to be part of a function of winning games. I believe in paying the offensive and defensive fronts over wide receivers and corners based on what wins historically in the NFL.

Sometimes I really am glad we have Jerry as a GM, instead of all the GM's on here.
This is one of those times!

Pro Dez support, post does not apply to you...LOL

I love Dez, but I have strong opinions on the WR position. The only player on this list that has realistically competed for a superbowl was Percy Harvin, and while he was definitely a factor in that game, clearly he was no factor in getting to the playoffs and Seattle was alright without him.

I want Dez to be on this team, but I do not believe that an individual WR is a key position in playoff success.

Larry Fitzgerald disagrees with your opinion.

This guys the one player on our team who has earned every dime he's due and there's a group of fans don't want to pay him. Ridiculous. This is our superstar and best player who's entering the prime of his career, you do not let that type of talent walk away. Without Dez this is a 2 win team.

In principal I agree but the NFL and teams across the NFL do not believe that nor do that. OL players will not get paid as much as top WR. QB needs a lot of help, OL WR and TE to do their jobs for him to succeed but QB will get paid more than any other position

He won't have to worry about a hometown discount. He's Jerry's ultimate pet project success. Jerry will probably give him the biggest WR contract in football and be happy to do it.

You're right, I forgot about that year!

I do still think my point stands. WR is a good position to have, and not having any can hurt, but you also don't want to over invest.

You either pay the talent on a team or you cut them loose. Frankly Dallas needs as many truely talented players they can get. Avg WR you can get any wheres a top ranked WR you don't and you either step up and pay or someone else will. Seahawks faced that with Harvin and they stepped up and paid him.

He did use the words, "hometown discount" but folks shouldn't take that to mean he's only gonna want a bare bones deal..

Besides he's earned his big pay raise.

I agree. People are reading this as if he demanded to be the highest paid guy in the game. His contract is expiring, so naturally his agent is discussing a new deal. Is he among the top guys in the league? I think so for sure. Look at the cap. we are fine in the next couple of years. The front office (which you know I have NO problem abusing) has planned to be able to handle Tyron and Dez and their big deals coming up.

I was with you until the 2 win team part. But you probably aren't that far off.

What about Dez' back? Is anyone at all concerned about that. Give him a huge contract and then have him unable to play in two years... I just don't like it.

We need to lock up Smith first, then Dez. Hopefully wee can keep both.

Cowboys exercised the 5th year option on Smith, they really don't need to negotiate with him until next of-season.
Dez priority for now.

He is remaining in Dallas. There is no way that Jerry lets him go.

The contract will be an albatross.
