Dez wants to get paid!

I love Dez, but I have strong opinions on the WR position. The only player on this list that has realistically competed for a superbowl was Percy Harvin, and while he was definitely a factor in that game, clearly he was no factor in getting to the playoffs and Seattle was alright without him.

I want Dez to be on this team, but I do not believe that an individual WR is a key position in playoff success.

Plus in a Jason Garrett offense it is too easy to take away any option you want including Dez.

Hopefully that changes this year.

We'll deserved. I expect him to be 3rd highest paid behind Calvin and Fitz

After that they don't have much Top 10 talent, and what little talent they do have is up for contracts shortly.

no they have some young guys who need to prove themselfs. I have no issues paying talented ball players and yes I would consider Dez a very talented ball player not some so called dime a dozen type player. Vast majority of players on the teams have 6 or less years experiance and with only 3 players with more experaince who are full time starters.

I would rather pay Dez than most of the others who got it recently. I mean, if it is going to be wasted money, throw it in the right direction.

Lee - was too early
Spencer - questionable
Ratliff - mistake
Demarco - wait and see approach but I would not sign him to big bucks
Carr - jumped the gun, should have kept Jenkins and spent elsewhere
Romo - had to do it but it is a crutch now

If we lose Dez, this receiving core will scare no one and he will be hard to replace. Pay the man if his health holds up this season.

Ought to be able to deal with Murray on a 3 year rate that is reasonable. Carr needs to take a cut. Romo is a top 5 QB. Time to Franchise DB for 1 or two years and then move on if he is not being realistic. Or trade him. Or pay him for a 9 mil type 6 year deal that keeps the club competitive and able to pay positional players that are more important. I don't see Tom Brady signing up any big bucks WRs and Romo doesn't need them either.

He is the only the reason we are even remotely dangerous. Pay him,or watch Romo throw games away even more, and the cowboys finish with maybe 4 wins a season.

Lee - was too early
Spencer - Shouldn't have done it. One good season ever. We paid the price.
Ratliff - Huge mistake
Demarco - Wait and see approach. Also has a history of injuries. Shouldn't give him huge money though.
Carr - Was worth the money. Just doesn't have a line to help him and switching him to a scheme that doesn't play to his strengths or Clariborne's was dumb.
Romo - Did not have to do it, we had other options. Could have went after Alex Smith and paid him a hell of a lot less and still had a good QB back there until we found our eventual replacement.

I really do think he is fantastic, and I hope we can find a deal that works. But Tyron is clearly a higher priority to retain over the next half decade, not to mention the money already tied up in QB and depending on this year RB.

I think we keep him, but I hope it is structured in a way that the CAP doesn't suffer.

Tyron Smith over Dez......Sure the pass protection will be nice, but won't mean much when nobody can get open, and teams blitz with 0 coverage, because they don't fear no WR we have.

As good as Smith is, he can't block 2 people. So when they send the house, and our WR's can't shake loose, then we wil wish we would have given Dez his contract.

“Hell no,” Bryant said. “I don’t even think about leaving Dallas. I’m Dallas forever.”

He's the heart and soul of this franchise, he'll get his contract.

Would people be happy if we got rid of every player deserving their contract for actually playing well. to save cap money.
We may be 2-14 every year, with more mediocre players than ever before, because you don't think anyone needs to be paid.

But hey, we will be $25 million under the cap every year and going nowhere.....but we are under the cap....don't use that money to get better, retain the better players...

Every year it's cap hell, every year we come out ok, and gets better every year. And it kept us from over paying.
People want to give Jared Allen, or whoever a Ware type contract he got from Denver, which I think was too much for aging players. But yet you don't want to give a young player who will and can help us win. any money he shown he deserves.

I don't know about others, and it's not my money, all I want are the best players for us to win. Let the Jones's worry about the cap from year to year. Sure it hurt in the past, but they are getting it under control.

He should want to get paid. He's the best player on this team and deserves to be awarded for it.

Exactly, and our biggest threat. Without Dez we are last in the NFC East, and Giants, Eagles, and Commanders will all spit on us while we bottom feed.

Gotta chime in on this one. If everything was even, meaning no player option on Tyron Smith and both players are eligible for free agency at the same time, i'd give priority to Tyron. He's younger, he's proven (can play LT or RT) and he's had no injury history. He's probably the surest thing on the entire Dallas roster.

Besides, Dez will take the home town discount. I'm not so sure about Tyron.

So we keep Smith and then what? Who do we roll out at WR?

Williams and Harris? Beasley? Williams our number 1 who can only catch with his body. We would be a even bigger clown of a team than we are now.

Romo is not even remotely close to a top 5 QB.

Most people not wanting to extend Dez were praying we'd resign Lee.

Dez is an elite, young, trouble free, dedicated, injury free player. We only have one more of those on the roster (Smith) and a few with potential. But we need more cap space to sign guys like Crawford, Melton, Claiborne, Carr.

hahaha for real

The front office has already been planning on extensions for D. Bryant and T. Smith. That's why they released Ware and didn't opt to resign Hatcher. Ware's contract/ dead money is off the books next season cuz he was a pre-June 1st cut freeing up a large chunk of cap room next offseason to resign our 2 young super stars.

You'd just have to do what the Patriots do or draft.

Dallas is keeping both, I'm just saying if it came down to that scenario.
