triple teams? lol

I bet you were mad. I have always thought Dez was a crybaby and when I witnessed him leave a game last year and get a critical; helmet offpenalty last year and lead the team in drops again last season plus lead the team in fumbles I say TRADE THE MAN

.
Yeah triple team!!! That's what I typed. Are you trying to say he wasn't.

Also I don't have to bet you are mad. I know you are with your silly post.

The Patriots make the playoffs each year because they don't over pay. WR is becoming a position similar to RB. Pay the players that matter and fill in with low cost WRs

Now this is LOL worthy. They make the playoffs because they play in a terrible division with Buffalo, Miami, and the Jets in it.

Or pay him on the tag if we can't find any takers

I agree

Nice stats and DB can thank Witten for taking up defenders and Romo for being the gunslinger he is. Tony could find a receiver picked up off the street to connect with look at Williams, our 3rd round pick...as good as DB his rookie season. What do the have in common? it is Tony "the man" Romo as long as he gets a little time. Looking over the list of great WRs above I don't see a top notch QB that would be on the front end like DB and Witten have.

LOL.

Just to put his first 4 seasons in perspective

Calvin Johnson first 4 years 4191 yards for 33TDs
Larry Fitzgerald first 4 years 3764 for 34TDs
Andre Johnson first 4 years 3953 yards for 17TDs
Brandon Marshall first 4 years 4019 yards for 25TDs
Dez Bryant first 4 years 4104 yards for 40TDs
By the way he would have more TDs AND yards than all of these guys if we didn't spot Megatron 300 last year!

GAAAAAAREAT!!!!! Post!!

Dez wants to get paid!

And..?

Every player in every sport wants to get paid mega bucks. How much he wants, and how much Dallas or any other team is willing to pay for his services, are the real questions. Such is the insidious nature of the salary cap.

Agreed. And we need to put some kind of injury clause etc in there to protect ourselves like we did with Lee. Dez is extremely physical when he plays and that can lead to a serious injury. I would hate to pay him a ton of guaranteed money and then that happen.

I agree with that, but only in relation to his back spasms that have occurred more than even I like to see. Dez doesn't get injured from his reckless style, where as Lee does (usually). I don't think that could be a legitimate bargaining chip when negotiations come up and if anything, defeats the purpose for paying him so much in the first place; team leader, reckless aggression that is the centerpiece of the offense and the only legitimate play maker on offense (outside of Romo) in regards to TDs, the leap in maturity displayed in how he conducts himself as team spokesman, agreeing to taking demeaning monitoring from the team to establish his credibility after a shaky reputation followed him from college, and on and on. Pay the man for being top 5 at his position, the only vocal leader on the O, and the only big play-maker that lead to big plays/conversions/TDs.

and the lame attempt at an excuse as to why they go deep in the playoffs constantly?

Not really. I feel the same about them going deep in the playoffs whatever that means. The AFC hasn't exactly been the strongest in the last 5 years and with a bye all they need to do is win one game and they are in the conference championship game. Beating the Colts and Texans to get to the AFC Championship game is not difficult to do. Getting past the Ravens and Broncos to the Super Bowl is difficult to do If the formula is win a weak division and weak conference by winning 12 games and getting a bye is going deep in the playoffs and then getting beat by the better teams in the conference when it matters then I guess they accomplished their goal. You are giving the Pats too much credit.

This will not be popular but go back and look at teams in the SBs last several years , you have to go back to 2009 to come across the first top 5 WR in Larry Fitz, and the cards lost. The last top 5 WR to win was Marvin Harrison with colts in 2007.

Not saying we should not resign Dez, just that we should think twice about paying him top dollar

Wasn't Percy Harvin on the Hawks in the Super Bowl back in 2014? I believe he's over $10 million. If not top 5, he's close.

I presume this is a response to my post so I will respond

1. No one considers Percy harvin is even a top 10 WR let alone top 5

2. Harvin missed the entire 2013 season and only came back for the SB so the Seahawks did what they did all year without harvin

Wait...so you're talking about a top 5 receiver on the field as opposed to a top 5 receiver in salary? Now i'm really confused. Just clarify this for me, because as it stands it seems like you are saying that having good receivers is a bad thing. Given the context of the thread, I assumed you were talking about taking up cap space. I suppose that I was wrong.

Top 5 WR s (in terms of on field) have not typically been part of teams recently appearing in SB s. Therefore it might be a reasonable strategy to not have a WR on your team making top 5 WR money and use those dollars elsewhere
