Yea this is a no brainer to me.. we have very very few "elite" talents on this team. Dez is a game breaker and actually cares about winning, oh did I mention he actually produces as well. How many guys can we say that's actually young/elite/passionate/ and produces on this team? .. Pay the man.

With Romo and Wittens careers winding down holding on to Dez should be a priority, unless they think his back is gonna give out. In fairness to Bryant he has improved every season.

What should they do? They should pay him. Plain and simple. He should get top 5 money at the position, it is a passing league so you need top notch weapons. Hopefully with a little hometown discount.

Dez is the second best WR in the NFL. If Tony can get more accurate on deep balls, he will have a better year this year. Dez has done everything he has been asked to do, on and off the field. Regardless of how many Romos and Wittens we have, Dez is the face of the franchise....he might be the only guy on our team to excite the younger fan base...PAY HIM what he's worth...

Well, the 2,000-yard season he half last year entitles him to big monies, yes?

He did amass 2,000 yards last year like he predicted, right? Right?

GIVE HIM THE MONEY SO HE CAN BUY MORE JEWELRY!

Just to put his first 4 seasons in perspective

Calvin Johnson first 4 years 4191 yards for 33TDs
Larry Fitzgerald first 4 years 3764 for 34TDs
Andre Johnson first 4 years 3953 yards for 17TDs
Brandon Marshall first 4 years 4019 yards for 25TDs
Dez Bryant first 4 years 4104 yards for 40TDs
By the way he would have more TDs AND yards than all of these guys if we didn't spot Megatron 300 last year!

Thank you for this. It made me so mad this morning listening to FOX Sports Radio and it was Mike North and some other moron just bashing Dez calling him a crybaby and saying he isn't one of the top receivers and just bad mouthing him. Naming about 15-20 receivers that are better than Dez. When I see these numbers and how he's done this being the opposing defenses primary concern to stop it makes what Dez has done so far that much more amazing. He doesn't have another really good WR opposite of him like Atlanta has with White/Jones or Chicago with Marshall/Jeffrey it's Dez that gets the double and sometimes triple teams and he still makes plays.

Dez isn't even close to a finished product yet and he is dominating.

Since the Franchise Tag for WRs is 12m, that is where I would go. I would offer a 7/91m deal that is really a 5/60m deal. 25m SB.

2015 1m
2016 3m
2017 14m planned restructure
2018 8m
2019 9m
2020 15m
2021 16m

I for one am very leery of giving another injury-prone player a mega contract. He has been very productive, etc., but that back has got to be an issue in this negotiation. If not, let him go and let someone else live in cap hell. We've got to stop paying ut millions that don't return rewards. The Pats rarely resign any players and yet they make the POs every year. ANd once he gets the money, will Dez continue to play through the pain (which will get worse) as he does now?...

What did the 329 he put on the Cowboys last year have to do with his first 4 years in the league?

Dez is unbelievable talent, no question you need to pay the man. He is a Top 5 WR in the NFL although I do fear for you guys with his back. He seems like a tough player, very emotional, and competitive so he is playing through it. I just hope it is not an issue for the future, he is your offense IMO.

triple teams? lol

I bet you were mad. I have always thought Dez was a crybaby and when I witnessed him leave a game last year and get a critical; helmet offpenalty last year and lead the team in drops again last season plus lead the team in fumbles I say TRADE THE MAN

Or pay him on the tag if we can't find any takers

Nice stats and DB can thank Witten for taking up defenders and Romo for being the gunslinger he is. Tony could find a receiver picked up off the street to connect with look at Williams, our 3rd round pick...as good as DB his rookie season. What do the have in common? it is Tony "the man" Romo as long as he gets a little time. Looking over the list of great WRs above I don't see a top notch QB that would be on the front end like DB and Witten have.

The Patriots make the playoffs each year because they don't over pay. WR is becoming a position similar to RB. Pay the players that matter and fill in with low cost WRs

That is incredibly inaccurate. Just because the Patriots do it with one of the best QB's to ever play the game? Tom Brady is an elite QB that plays in system built completely for him. If you don't have a defense like the Seahawks (which we won't see for awhile), you need weapons on the outside. And if anything, the Patriots last year were a PERFECT example of why WR is actually incredibly important. Pats D wasn't all that great....they needed to Brady to win with his arm and losing Hernandez, Gronk, Welker is a big blow. I'm sure Tom will happy to tell you that as well.
