This isn't a surprise. We've known for a couple of years Dez should get his money and now the bill is due. It seems the off the field stuff is behind him now and no one should question his heart or desire. Pay the man and move on.

Indeed. It's rather simple.

I think he's worth $10 Mil a year or more. I would hate to see this team on offense without him.

If you're going to pay someone, pay a good young receiver who's proven it, rarely injured. Not an aging QB or a porcelain linebacker with no pro bowls.

and whom plays quarterback?

Liked except the Romo part.

He did use the words, "hometown discount" but folks shouldn't take that to mean he's only gonna want a bare bones deal..

Besides he's earned his big pay raise.
Dez has earned a big pay day. And to the folks out there that don't want it to happen because their scared of the what if's -- it's gonna happen; as it should! You go #88! You are the heartbeat of this team and you deserve to get paid for your play on the field, as well as your behavior off the field.

After reading this thread, or a part of it anyway, it has occurred to me what is wrong with this team.

They haven't cut all their stars because these guys want to get paid.

I think the 100 million dollar man and the rest being minimum wage guys is a theory that hasn't bee tried.

What insight this board brings to the game of football.

Yep, you're a genius and everyone else is dumb.

I think we should pay him market. I feel we aren't just keeping a WR but instead also getting some much needed attitude and I think he affects the rest of the offense. To me he is worth more than most WRs. Irvin's emotion and attitude was a big part of what defined those 90s teams. If Terrance Williams was in Dezs body, I would not feel the same but I see dez as larger impact than just a WR.

Would people be happy if we got rid of every player deserving their contract for actually playing well. to save cap money.
We may be 2-14 every year, with more mediocre players than ever before, because you don't think anyone needs to be paid.

But hey, we will be $25 million under the cap every year and going nowhere.....but we are under the cap....don't use that money to get better, retain the better players...

Every year it's cap hell, every year we come out ok, and gets better every year. And it kept us from over paying.
People want to give Jared Allen, or whoever a Ware type contract he got from Denver, which I think was too much for aging players. But yet you don't want to give a young player who will and can help us win. any money he shown he deserves.

I don't know about others, and it's not my money, all I want are the best players for us to win. Let the Jones's worry about the cap from year to year. Sure it hurt in the past, but they are getting it under control.

yep..it seems a lot of people would happier with being under the cap and a top 5 drat pick every year.
