Did anyone earn a roster spot tonight?

Prescott has not earned only a roster spot...he should be in the running for starting qb in my opinion.
It's funny you mention this. I think I saw a tad of worry in Romo's face. Not that he can't do the job but that he's worried that he could possibly get injured and lose job.

Jackson sucked tonight I wont deny that.....but he has youth, cost and potential on his side......DMac havin two healthy seasons (with injury riddled pre-seasons) just leads most to believe another Reg season injury is right around the corner........and he still has never wowed anyway, even though he was a first round talent.....people wanna say "Jackson only takes whats there, nothin special"......well, thats pretty much McFadden as well......
Jackson didn't suck tonight. He had a beautiful 20 yard run with starting OL(that was called back because of bogus holding call)......only 1 carry the rest was with backup OL where he got hit almost as soon as he got the ball. Let him run with the ones and he has some long runs. That screen he had late in the game showed what he could do.

He showed great vision and picked up first downs even with nothing there.

He will make the roster

well, when McFadden still makes the 53 after no TC or Pre-Season, and our 6th round Draft pick is risked to claims to try and put onto the PS, I will come back and eat crow, but I really dont see that happening......If our RB situation was weak itd be a different story, but we have a seemingly sure thing in Zeke, and an FA who has proven himself in the past and in this Pre-season so far.......the 3rd string RB position will go to a youngster with promise, over an injury plagued veteran....
Ya this is how I see it. What is McFadden going to do on special teams? When will McFadden even play? I don't see him getting many snaps, even if Elliot gets hurt because Linehan prefers using 1 running back instead of subbing a lot. I think the only way he stays on the team is on the PUP.

Its time to cut our losses with MacFadden.

We should go with Elliott, Morris and Dunbar. Jackson to the PS.

Just don't get the lovefest for Jackson, Not like the guy is wowing himself out there and is so good we gotta keep him off the ps.

Just an opinion but I think the fact that he is a Big fast back that has the number 34 and his last name is Jackson might play some kind of role subconsciously

So did anyone earn a roster spot tonight?

IMO Dak is the #2 QB now, no question.

Did Brice Butler? Some here think he did, I still think the WR spots come down to the last day.

Did Jameill Showers? I thought he played well considering he was with the 2nd and 3rd string, the best scenario for the team is for him to be on the Practice Squad another year but I don’t think he makes it because there is so little QB talent in the league. He has great mobility and a strong arm, he isn’t Dak but he looks like a guy with upside.

Did Darius Jackson? I think he did, he showed enough that other teams would definitely claim him on waivers. We also have the option to keep DMC and/or Dunbar on the PUP to start the season.

Did Shanell Jenkins? He is active and powerful, he could be a beast after a year in the weight room. He may also be too good to expose to waivers but not good enough to beat out Maliek Collins.

I thought Kavon Frazier and Jerimiah McKinnon looked good in the secondary, though McKinnon is likely a PS guy.
Dak

I'm inclined to think that any worry he may have is with having to answer 5 million Dak questions from a badgering media feeding their hater readers.

There isn't a lovefest for Jackson although you man lovers it is......guys that are for keeping Jackson over McFadden is that McFadden isn't special. Just another jag running back. Jackson can do the same things Mcfadden can but Jackson also contributes on special teams. Here is a break down of Mcfadden.......

Last season
6-16 0 TDs....2.6 yards per carry
10-31 0 TDs.....3.1
5-16 0 TDs......3.2
20-64 0 TDs.....3.2
17-32 0 TDs.....1.8
10-11 0 TDs.....1.1
14-53 1 TDs.....3.7

For his career he averages
3.5 TDs a year
667 yards a year
12.9 attempts a game
53.9 yards a game

2 years ago he was healthy look at this
4-15 0 TDs......3.7 yards per carry
12-37 1 TD.......3.0
18-59 0 TDs.....3.2
11-40 0 TDs.....3.6
14-48 1 TD....3.4
13-20 0 TD.....1.5
7-14 0 TD......2.0
8-21 0 TDs......2.6
12-29 0 TDs.....2.4
11-27 0 TD.......1.2
4-13 0 TDs....3.2

Sorry but that isn't special. Call it lovefest whatever you want but Jackson will make the roster over McFadden and should. Without Zeke and Morris then ya you would have to keep him and nothing that Jackson has done shows me he can't give you those same stats if not better.

Jackson has ran almost completely behind 2nd and 3rd string OL and his stats for preseason

12-47 0 TDs....3.9 yards per carry
14-43 0 TDs.....3.0

Jackson did have a run of 20 yards with the starting OL that was called back on T. Williams holding call but would change his stats to.

15-63 0 TDs.......4.2 yards per carry

So on average with and without that carry are as follows

26-90 0 TDs......3.4
27-110 0 TDs......4.0 (without the bogus hold call)

Ya I take Jackson over McFadden not because of lovefest but because he can do the same thing as Mcfadden.....but plays special teams, cheaper and younger, also has upside and can improve

This is coming from the guy who insists Russell should remain on team due to his potential. Hypocrite much?

Jackson has done more than Russell.

I have posted stat after stat how Mcfadden isn't special but a few of these guys I think might be related to him or something.

McFadden averaged 4.6 YPC last season and was 4th in rushing dispite not starting in the first 4 games. He's making the team.

I don't think he will make the team. For one he isn't healthy right now and 2 I think they only keep 1 out of Mcfadden and Dunbar. We are 2 weeks from regular season and he sounds like at least another week or more away from being healthy to practice. He isn't special

Being special isn't why McFadden is making the 53 . He's making it because he produces on the field.

Can't produce on the field cause he is hurt. All 3 of Zeke, Morris and Jackson can produce.......that's not a reason to keep Mcfadden on the roster when others can produce his same jag type numbers. Look at my previous post and you will see

McFadden produced last year because he was injury free .He will be fully recovered before regular season starts. If we are cutting players because they been injured in the past most of this roster is getting cut.
McFadden is not getting cut.

Don't know if he's earned a spot yet but Jenkins is coming out of nowhere to possibly push someone unexpectedly off the roster.

Cut our losses with McFadden? Can you explain what we have lost by having McFadden on the team?

I am not going to lose sleep either way on whether we keep McFadden or not, but to suggest we have lost out on something because of McFadden is pretty weird.

I think Wilcox finally did enough to get himself cut.

Hopefully the small school safety experiments are over.

Shanell Jenkins makes the team for sure. Denver fans have been frustrated as to why they let him go. One of the few mistakes Elway has done so far. Kid has a lot of potential.
