Did anyone earn a roster spot tonight?

Being special isn't why McFadden is making the 53 . He's making it because he produces on the field.

his biggest question........is do they want a man blocking RB mixed in with a stable of Zone blocking scheme of RB and OLine.......

In some ways, if the OLine can handle it, its a good change of pace to throw at a defense, especially considering DMac's ability to pass block etc.

Last year at this time, it was Dunbar on the way to the door............DMac could do everything he could and more. did we ever see DMac get to run the wheel route that Dunbar was dang good at while healthy? That play seemed to leave with Dunbar.

Jackson wasn't drafted in the 6th rd, with his skill level, after drafting Zeke, signing Morris, to be put on the practice squad. He is making the team ..so book it and move to someone else.

Don't see it happening unless mac starts the season on pup.

That might be the best case for us. Keep McFadden on the pup list for first 6 weeks for the extra roster spot. Dunbar too. Go with Zeke, Morris and Jackson. That frees up two additional spots for other positions and gives us free (other than cap implications) insurance. It may also give us an opportunity to trade a player for a pick if and when another team's starter goes down due to injuries.

I have a feeling may keep 3Qbs. Would Showers clear waivers to make it to the PS?

I just have a feeling there's a team or two that could be interested in Showers, especially SF.

The Cowboys may expose Showers to waivers in light of Dak's play. No way to tell yet. I think the Cowboys will have to expose players to waivers that they would like to avoid losing, but it is a numbers game. Prescott's superior play, along with needs at other positions might cause us to take a chance with Showers. Of course QB is the most important position on the team, so that will undoubtably be factored in as well.

well, when McFadden still makes the 53 after no TC or Pre-Season, and our 6th round Draft pick is risked to claims to try and put onto the PS, I will come back and eat crow, but I really dont see that happening......If our RB situation was weak itd be a different story, but we have a seemingly sure thing in Zeke, and an FA who has proven himself in the past and in this Pre-season so far.......the 3rd string RB position will go to a youngster with promise, over an injury plagued veteran....

The biggest thing that McFadden has going against him is his cap number. We could gain some cap relief by letting him go.

The best thing he has going for him is that he is a solid player across the board, is a veteran, can do everything well, and might be tradeable to another team in a bind for a late round pick if their starter goes down early in the year.

Right now the people that are being discussed in this thread most of them are just flat making the team. Jackson, right now, is RB3. McFadden is likely to start the season on NFI because he hurt himself in the off season doing something, the cell phone is BS. Dunbar is likely to start on PUP. So right now we have 3 RB in camp, if you don't count Rod Smith. And I'd make an argument from a team building stand point that for RB3 or RB4 Jackson is better for the team then McFadden. Young player with upside who will play teams vs older player with injury history who doesn't play teams. But like I said, I don't expect it's an actual argument until at least week 6.

Lucky Whitehead is WR5. That's a lock. He's the primary return guy and a gadget player on offense. Butler feels like a lock for WR4. Andy Jones and all the other UDFA types are fighting to create a WR6 spot on this team who's roster feels a little cramped. I think when Dunbar is healthy we will likely have 4 RB. I think we probably carry 4 TE, definitely if Hanna is healthy and possibly even if he's not. 3 QB. So bascially I think it will come down to do we carry a FB in do we carry a 6th WR. Jones helped himself by playing on teams yesterday and by actually catching the ball. That catch down by the goal line where the official ran himself out of position was a pretty one.

Jenkins faces an uphill battle probably, unless he can play a little at DE. Right now DE is J. Crawford, Tapper, Irving, Mayowa, and Russell. DT is T. Crawford, T McClain, Thornton, Collins. Jenkins needs to show that he has several places he can play and get some reps against better opposition to show that he's a player. It feels hard to take 10 DLine, considering you usually go long at LB and S for Teams reasons. \

Round 6, pick No. 216: Darius Jackson, RB, Eastern Michigan

I thought Dak for sure and very possibly Jackson were the two most obvious candidates for roster spots. They both kicked butt, imho.

I honestly believe that if both of them have somewhat comparable games vs. the likes of Seattle, they'll likely be guaranteed of spots.

McFadden produced last year because he was injury free .He will be fully recovered before regular season starts. If we are cutting players because they been injured in the past most of this roster is getting cut.
McFadden is not getting cut.
3 TDS is producing.......haha ya ok

The last wr spot was between Lucky, Street, Andy Jones. Butler was not getting cut.
WR is pretty much settled. In fact there really wasn't much doubt. The big question was is if someone can force them to carry 6. No one has.

Would have been a major surprise if ot wasnt Bryant, Williams, Beasley, Butler, Whitehead

Yes. That's what happens when you pass first in the red zone. Look at the yards per carry and total yards.
He had 7 games last year with 3 yards or less per carry. Y'all continue to say what you want but Mcfadden isn't special. Period, his little production can be easily replaced

That Wilcox guy made an argument for making the team

The mule team to Death Valley!

So did anyone earn a roster spot tonight?

IMO Dak is the #2 QB now, no question.

Did Brice Butler? Some here think he did, I still think the WR spots come down to the last day.

Did Jameill Showers? I thought he played well considering he was with the 2nd and 3rd string, the best scenario for the team is for him to be on the Practice Squad another year but I don’t think he makes it because there is so little QB talent in the league. He has great mobility and a strong arm, he isn’t Dak but he looks like a guy with upside.

Did Darius Jackson? I think he did, he showed enough that other teams would definitely claim him on waivers. We also have the option to keep DMC and/or Dunbar on the PUP to start the season.

Did Shanell Jenkins? He is active and powerful, he could be a beast after a year in the weight room. He may also be too good to expose to waivers but not good enough to beat out Maliek Collins.

I thought Kavon Frazier and Jerimiah McKinnon looked good in the secondary, though McKinnon is likely a PS guy.
I think Dak already had a spot.
I'm not sure if any of the other guys are definitely in yet, though I do thin id he continues playing like last night, Butler will be in too.
The others just have to keep plugging.
Good list
