Did Jarwin block Bobby Wagner in the back on Dak's 3rd and 14 run?

The officiating in the playoffs is the worst I've ever seen in all games.

Just curious, because it would have been a game changer if they would've called the penalty.

You're nuts if you think Brady wouldn't have slid. Every QB is not the same, nor do they have the same skill set. Brady is obviously the better QB by a large margin, but in that situation trying to run the ball for the first down and possible TD Brady would not have had remotely the chance Dak did, and he would not have even attempted to get through. As for not sliding being the standard for a great play, not sliding was just an element of the play. Did it take super human effort - no. But it took great will and determination, and it took reading the play and blocking, sidestepping a D-Lineman in the backfield before he could even take of running, making a subtle cut to the right and accelerating just as the defenders converged on him that allowed him to avoid the tackle ...

No, he likely wouldn't, just as there are throws the Pats ask Brady to make that the Cowboys wouldn't ask Dak to make. You give players the opportunity to make the outstanding plays that their talents give them a chance to make. But you said any player would do what Dak did instead of sliding, and that's not the case. Part of what makes Dak a candidate for that kind of run is because he is willing to do what he did - because he is willing to take on defenders and take hits and drive through tackles - and the other part is because he is able to see and make the right cut and slow and accelerate as needed to avoid the tackle. That ability and attitude to do that is what makes that play outstanding.

Any player...that would be running...obviously. Brady would never be in that situation. Even ig he did run, he would never get to that point. But still I have no doubt Brady would sacrifice his body if he felt it had any chance of success.

Now can we stop pretending Dak made a bunch of subtle jedi moves that made guys miss and just admit that Wagner just made a terrible attempt?

There were no "cuts." Please don't try to sell him side stepping the guy being blocked in front of him to go through the massive opening at the LOS as him making a read or cut. I'd appreciate it if you don't insult everyone's intelligence.

Dak did fine on the play. We benefited from Seattle screwing up. It's okay to admit that. It doesn't mean it's a criticism of Dak or his effort or willingness. That has never been anyone's criticism of Dak.

The Cowboys didn't expect the draw to be successful and it went exactly how they expected until Wagner blew it. Sure there is a small chance Dak is able to make a great play if Wagner plays it even decently, but it's unlikely and we'll never know. If Wagner does make the simple tackle, then it's just another meaningless play. But the result is entirely based on Wagner, not by anything great the Cowboys did.

For the record, I'm in agreement with you. It was a great play, and a great effort by Dak, but people are still exaggerating it. He's had better runs, in my opinion. I think the fact that this play just happened to more obviously help win the game makes it a better play in some people's minds.

What did he do that was great? Elusive? No. Powered through? No? Had to make great vision? No. You are not even making an argument just throwing out terms that do not apply.

He simply did his job.

The fact that it was a huge play does not mean what he physically did on the play is more impressive. Saying it didn't require him to do anything great is not a criticism. All that was required was that he try. Nobody had any way of knowing that is all it would take, but that is all it took (thank you Wagner).

I am sure none of you want to talk about him missing a wide open Noah Brown on the play before this do you?

He sidestepped the OL being blocked, then ran as fast as he could and dove (unnecessarily). That's pretty much the extent of the play. He timed it well and ran in the right direction too, let's not forget that.

It was a very good play, but it won't be in the NFL highlight reels for years to come.

The "dive" (or flip or whatever) came from extra effort to get a TD, but was after the 1st down was reached. If that bit had been required for the first down, or he had reached the end zone, it would have made it a greater play. In the end that accounted for 1 or 2 yards (which may or may not have mattered in regards to them scoring).

I do wonder if that bit at the end inflates it more in some people's minds.

But yes, we should be thankful he ran the right direction. On a separate note, I have seen improvement from Dak the last 2 weeks in the pocket. Instead of turning and running backwards he has kept his eyes downfield and slid much more effectively.
