Did the Cowboys tank yesterday?

They did look overly desinterested, unmotivated and sloppy, human nature I guess. Sort of an unconscious tanking.

As I watched (disgusted) yesterday's game and saw just how pervasive the lethargy and half-assed efforts were across the board on this team I found myself wondering? Was this done on purpose? Could Mike McCarthy be like me in that he doesn't trust this team when it's riding high and the media is all caressing their ..er.. private parts. Could he had instructed both coordinators to present a preseason level game plan and really never put much into the game? If it had been one side of the ball I might feel differently.. but the defensive effort was sporadic, the special teams were horrible.. the receivers dropped balls, the QB was off, the backs looked like they were running in quicksand and my lord, the offensive line looked like they would struggle to block Baylor.

Everybody stunk.. If it wasn't an outright tank then they need to get the name of whoever catered the pregame meal and never use them again and never stay at whatever hotel they stayed at again either. If it wasn't taking, food poisoning or somebody pulling the fire alarm at 3 am, then this team will have a short visit to the playoffs if it can't play about 20,000 miles above what they showed us yesterday.
The idea they tanked makes me feel better so I’m all in on it. McCarthy just pulled a fast one on the Bucs!

Lol!

I don’t think they intentionally tanked.

However, I could totally see the coaches getting some extra prep and practice time in for TB, and arrogantly assuming that Washington was uninterested and that we could just “show up” and win easily.

Brad Sham just said on 105.3 that it was apparent that Dallas was just trying things out and weren't playing with a game plan.

so every other 12+ win team went out and played hard this weekend and won yesterday except Dallas. Dallas played a rookie qb on top of everything. The Bengals could have rested guys, they didn't and they went out played hard...a very similar situation to Dallas.

The reasoning 100% is not that they tanked on purpose. Zero chance of that. Dallas had the worlds greatest all time defensive player Micah Parsons on the field all the way through the game. I don't think there is a single way to say they tanked.

You’re exactly right and to add on he talked about the two pass plays in a row where one was intercepted, and than the two back to back bombs on the seam routes. It looked intentional as if they were trying things out.

IMO they have already been installing for Tampa last week, and they thought they could go into Wash and be vanilla and just win with that. It didn’t work.

I also think that this game and the first game are almost identical outliers. Tampa rushed for 153, Wash 152. Dak’s passer rating Tampa- 45, yesterday 39. Brady- 85, Howell- 84. Tampa rushing yards 67, Yesterday, 63. Very odd

If that was the plan, then he should have started the backups rather than waste the time of the starters and risk getting them hurt. So, no, I do not think this is the case. I think, rather, that they were just awful.

Dak said himself that he had underneath routes but was trying to jump start the team and took the deep shots. So this contradicts Brad Sham's statements. Brad was not great calling the game yesterday either. He seemed to not understand that dallas was getting whipped on the line of scrimmage and insisted like he apparently just did on the radio that Dallas was not running its regular plays. Babe repeatedly disagreed.

That makes no sense. Why risk injury to starters? Players were mentally checked out and they were manhandled by a supposed inferior team.

Great spin.... here is a question for you Ronnie, why does Dak stink on grass?

Let's face it, Cowboys players are divas. They didn't want to play and expected to be sidelined. They were probably pissed they had to go out and play an entire game.
Most likely explanation I have heard so far. If I was the coach there is no way that Dak would have been pulled at the end. He should have had to finish off his turd performance.
