This is great news. Now, can someone explain what they say again when they call the retention phone number? Is there any pushing involved or is this a basic "hey, i'm jumping ship to Dish". What if they ask what i'm getting offered at Dish?
I didnt threaten to jump ship all I said was that I am happy with Directv but that Dish offered me a pretty amazing deal. Then I asked if they had any upgrades for existing members...

I would like to know as well. I just tried calling and the yahoo told me there were no upgrades for programming or equipment. Do you think I need to threaten to leave?

Did you try the number posted here? I think the poster said, you have to call that number and not the regular directv number.

You have to call the customer retention number.

1-800-824-9081

Hopefully you speak to someone having a good day and just be nice and ask for things and you usually get helped.

Some get more, some less.

My most recent call got me Superfan for free, $10 off a month for a year, free normal HD ($10 value) for 4 months.

$260 value

Plus I got a discount on my Sunday Ticket subscription.

12 off Sunday Ticket, No DVR charge and no mulitple room charge, plus 5.00 off my per month of my bill. Also got the Super Fan package free. It's called customer retention. BTW, If Dish Network ever goes away so does this.

What exactly did you ask for because I said I was thinking of going to dish network, and all they offered was 10 dollars off a month for 12 months . I told them that wasn't enough and maybe I would go to dish network . I have no intention of leaving dt but I wanted more .

I can't believe this actually worked, lol. I got a free HD satelite, HD box (or whatever it's called), non-HD DVR, and a free pole to install the HD satelite in my back yard -- before seeing this post, I had already had the HD-installation scheduled for tomorrow, and they were saying they'd charge $125 to dig a hole and for the pole; so that cost has been wiped away.

Was also told to call back in a few months when their HD package includes local channels. Said I'd get $200 bucks off a HD DVR along with some "help" in upgrading the HD package.

Pretty sweet!

Alot of this had to do with luck of the draw and who you get. Some people get alot more than others...I would just call them back and you will get somebody else..

How much you get depends a lot on how long you've been with DirecTV, etc. (at least from what I've seen). I just told them some friends told me about this number and how they were offered some deals and that I wanted to know what they had to offer me to ensure my being pleased.

I got myself free HD DVR, the one I wanted most really, but he didn't give me that Super Fan for free, darn it :D

He did give HD Channels for free for first 4 months though. I guess I can't be too greedy since I was planning on buying HD DVR next month, so saved 200 bucks there. Plus the guy said I can exchange for the new one when the new one eventually comes out, as this one cannot give local channels in HD yet.

I got the superfan thing for free this year, they said i had it last year too and i didnt even know it or pay for it. Plus i got the HD box for free. My dad called them and didnt get any of that, i told him to call back and lean on them a lil and now he got that stuff for free also. Get in while the gettin is good i guess!!
I got $50 discount for the Superfan and a free HD box. They have this campaign to reward their "preferred customers" this year. I have been a subscriber since 97 so I guess that's why I qualify.

Got superfan for free. That's all I really wanted. I simply acted like I was contemplating getting rid of the Sunday Ticket because it was not in HD, and it appeared blury on my 55 inch HD TV. She quicky gave me Superfan (which makes at least 8 games on Sunday in HD) free of charge. Answered on the second ring. No hold, no voice mail choices.

Direct TV really does rule.

I got everything. Also everybody who had the Superfan package last year will be charged that, and then it will be credited back. That is straight from Directv. Thanks for the tip.

Got nothing. They wanted to know what the offer was from Dish, first.

Oh well.
