DL, To rotate or not

If it was upgraded, we're not likely to see it in 2018. I'm fine with the call to retool, but it's going to take time. Our defense could be pretty bad, sadly.

I'm not willing to make that declaration yet.

We have vets in Brown (who was solid last year and could be better this year) & Scandrick (who by all accounts is back to his old self). Carroll--who is not that much worse than Carr--is our weakest link and hopefully he will be supplanted at some point by one of our talented rookies.

We could see a dramatic upgrade this year.

How often did Randy white and bob Lilly get subbed out for a breather

In 1977 there were 10 fewer pass attempts a game than in 2016.

And there was no "fast-tempo" offense (outside of the two-minute drill).

Quick passes to WR's weren't no where near as prevalent as today, which requires the pass-rusher to chase the QB, then go chase down the WR.

If Lilly and White were playing today, they'd be taking far more trips to the sideline for a breather than they did during that era.

Did you respond just to make me look bad. Comeon boss. Stop with the facts and logic!

Also fewer roster spots, I think.

It does take more energy but I wonder how much more. After all they are both battling in the trenches. But i do agree that defense takes more energy

OL plays more in small spaces as opposed to the DL who have to get through the OL and once they are able to get past they need to be able to get to the ball including chasing plays from behind. often it is a 4 on 5 matchup. I think DL in situations where they are dealing with a 10 to 12 play drive takes a lot of wind out of them.

I remember Randy telling my players one year when he came down to work with them "we used to play football, we didn't take breaks or plays off when I played ". That guy has always been my favorite, him and Stabauch.
That's what I'm taking about. Tough. Old school. Bro i see a lot of dudes working out now a days and they workout softer. They don't go as hard or as long. Maybe it's just me but it's what I've noticed in my personal life.
