DMN Blog: Babe Laufenberg on whether Cowboys can beat Saints

I don't care if we can beat the Saints or not.

I DO care of beating the Giants... it is challenging enough for this week.

we can beat them...their defense is a bunch of no names plus sharper and vilma...if we move the ball well we can beat them...the key is TOP

New England is 4th in the league in points scored and New Orleans held them to 17 points. The Cowboys are middle of the pack at 14th in points scored.

Yep. Focus on the next game. Worry about the Saints when we get to that part of the schedule.

Scoring 7 points in back to back games will do that to you.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think it's kind of cool that the Saints are having this kind of success. They have Historically been one of the very worst franchises in the NFL. I don't hope they win it all, but I can't fault that team at all. Beyond impressive the way they are playing.

I feel the same way.

Saints destroy us though.

41-10.

I think the Patriots might be a better team than the Cowboys and Vikings, but they're not a better matchup against the Saints. Any team with a hope of beating the Saints is going to need...

a) Passrushers who can disrupt Brees without leaving the defense exposed through blitzing ... Patriots have no real one on one pass rushers.

b) A consistent power running game that can slow down the tempo and shorten the game ... Patriots basically are running a spread offense, and their RB corps has been in shambles.

Im sorry for what happened to New Orleans but I hate the Saints as much as anyone right now.

C'mon man don't even kid your self. We don't match up well the Saints or the pats. We not in neither of those teams leagues this year. Cowboys fans are funny we go 13-3 and we're on top of the world best team every blah blah blah we're 8-3 now and we the most underrated unrespected team ever blah blah blah.

I'm the same way. No ill will towards their team. I had the same kind of feelings with the Vikings until they became a big media ***** (mainly due to Favre)

If they do happen to win it all they deserved it.

What if the Cowboys DO beat the Saints? Do the Cowboys all the sudden go from a pretender to one of the top 3 favorites to win the Superbowl? Does it go to the Cowboys head (like was noted about the Cowboys in '08 after the 13-3 07' season)

Personally, I think losing to the Saints would help keep both the Cowboys and their fans grounded in their (our) expectations.

Just a thought.

If we beat the Saints NYG and Chargers then we go to from a somewhat underrated team to a legit threat to come out of the east

If my expectation of this team where any more grounded I'd be in China.

The way they are playing right now they would give anyone serious trouble.

Beating New England is one thing, but the way they did it was impressive. Belichick usually has his teams prepared to the tee, they looked disorganized and completely confounded, which is rare.

It is not that the Patriots have a great defense. They really don't. Their pass defense is one of the worst. It was easy to see that the Saints would move the football.

I was more impressed how they played defensively. That is what is making them win. The offense gets the headlines, but Gregg Williams has that defense doing very well.

Damn that Greg Williams. Wish he would just go away. NO is very well coached. Miles and Romo better be wearing their superman capes that game.
