And even if he is on the team ..... every team in the league has guys just like Cory Procter.

That is why the roster is not just two deep.
Oh sure, bring a little common sense to the table.

Even though I really want us to improve the center depth, I don't believe this is remotely true.

If Proctor were an unrestricted free agent, there would be several teams interested in him as a cheap backup at center. He would probably do best in a zone-blocking scheme, though.

I just don't think teams would be breaking down his door to sign him. Hence I can't fathom a reason for Proctor not to sign his tender. A 2nd round tender is good money. More than he would see than say if he were a free agent.

I agree that he's likely getting paid more than he would as a free agent, although he might get a longer-term deal (two years or so) for less money, and that there is no reason for him to not sign that tender. (No one is going to give up a second-round pick for him.)

I just believe teams would sign him as an unrestricted free agent for his experience, his intelligence to make all the line calls, durability, etc. There is value in that until you find a better backup who can provide those things and also have potential to eventually be a starter.

We joke about Proctor (at least some of us are joking), but there are some worse alternatives, which is a good reason for Dallas to tender him and retain him until it finds a better one.

the Kool-Aid drinkers are in full force today. I swear some of you would applaud Jerry's spit on the ground.

Just because Jerry does it, it doesn't mean it's special or revolutionary.

Procter is horrible even for a reserve. That's all I and many others are saying. No one is jumping off the bandwagon over Procter. Just pointing out his inability to play football at an acceptable level.

Sip the Kool Aid fellas. You may choke if you try to gulp it down.

No. They'd actually roll around and cover themselves in it.

The picture says it all.

Silence of the Lambs will live on this team to get run over, under, around, and plowed or trucked, if you will.

Can we bring back that guy (Dennis Hopper) who made those shoe commercials, the one where he said, Run, Troy, Run.

I don't hear footsteps. I see Cory Proctor on our offensive line. Run, Tony! Run!

Now, we just need bbgun to put up the picture of the entire Giants team running after Romo, on our side of the line of scrimmage, while Silence of the Lambs stays in his stance.

I was watching the game with some people, and they couldn't believe he didn't move.

It's a classic, a flat out classic.

We need to get Sham's call on that play, or how about Shawn Rodgers planting Romo in the Cleveland turf.

I am not going to say that Proctor seems all world. He seems to be weak at the point of attack at left guard but apparently the coaching staff and scouting department are high on him. Hes intelligent and hes good in space so I can see him having luck at center using combo blocks pulling and knowing how to react to the blitz.

Albert Haynesworth, Shawn Rodgers or other huge DT blows him back into the QBs face at guard. They do the same thing to Kosier. At center I don't see that being an issue. I just think its funny the amount of hubris that people have to think they know more than Ciskowski and Houck.

Captain Oblivious. If I were to damn him with faint praise, I'd note that he's not as wretched at center than he is at guard.

Looking at the rest of our RFAs, I think the only ones who won't sign their tenders will be Austin, Sensabaugh and Spears.

Proctor's not a great guard. We all know this. As long as Ciskowski and our scouts like him, then I'm in Proctor's corner. If Gurode goes down, Cory Proctor is your center. Better learn to embrace the concept.

Wasn't that a false start?

When the center snaps the ball too early, it doesn't count as a false start -- it is a start. But even thought it's the center's fault, it's the other players who look bad.

I would love to be rid of him. I am rooting for Travis Bright so bad I can't even tell you. The team sees something in him that I don't. I'll be damned if I am going to whine about him being on the team when every team has guys just like him.

I honestly want two thing sin the upcoming Draft. A dedicated Return man who can help elsewhere if called upon, and OL depth. I don't care if we ignore Defense completely. They were #2 in the NFL in 2009 and I think without even making a move they can improve on that just by virtue of the maturation of Spencer.

But I really dislike our backup OL outside of Free. Brewster and Bright I have hopes for. Holland, Preston, McQuistan, and Procter I simply don't. I'd love for us to land Iupati and start him with Kosier being the top OG backup and Bright in the picture instead of Holland and Procter.
