When the center snaps the ball too early, it doesn't count as a false start -- it is a start. But even thought it's the center's fault, it's the other players who look bad.

Yeah thats what I thought. It was when Gurode was borking snap counts constantly.

I'm kind of dumb. What happens if they don't sign their tender?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but they end up becoming an unrestricted free agent after June 1st if they don't sign their tender - except in this year I think as a RFA they basically don't play for anyone else...but thinking twice on that I think that's only for exclusive rights RFAs.

Captain Oblivious. If I were to damn him with faint praise, I'd note that he's not as wretched at center than he is at guard.

There HAD to be something wrong with him on that play...he had to have temporarily went blind, or deaf, or something.

Looking at the rest of our RFAs, I think the only ones who won't sign their tenders will be Austin, Sensabaugh and Spears.

They wouldn't do that, unless they want to make less money this year.

Gurode snapped it too early and Cory was the last one to react.

I would love to be rid of him. I am rooting for Travis Bright so bad I can't even tell you. The team sees something in him that I don't. I'll be damned if I am going to whine about him being on the team when every team has guys just like him.

I honestly want two thing sin the upcoming Draft. A dedicated Return man who can help elsewhere if called upon, and OL depth. I don't care if we ignore Defense completely. They were #2 in the NFL in 2009 and I think without even making a move they can improve on that just by virtue of the maturation of Spencer.

But I really dislike our backup OL outside of Free. Brewster and Bright I have hopes for. Holland, Preston, McQuistan, and Procter I simply don't. I'd love for us to land Iupati and start him with Kosier being the top OG backup and Bright in the picture instead of Holland and Procter.

been tryin all day to convince a guy on another board -

with me saying the same thing - not in good as words as you tho

very nice write up

Only if the team withdraws the tender. After June 15, the team even has the option of reducing the tender to 110 percent of the player's base salary in the previous season, if it's lower than the tender amount.

The only way an RFA (or EFA) becomes an unrestricted free agent is if the team lets him.

It wouldn't be any different than what Marion Barber did when he received a first- and third-round tender in 2008. He didn't sign it, and signed a seven-year deal that May.

Sensabaugh and Austin expect to get long-term deals, so I can't see them signing. Spears isn't too happy with his tender, so I don't see him signing until he has no other option.

Dallas has the right to reduce the offer in June, but I only see that as a possibility with Spears.

Right - thanks Adam.

Man, you must really suck if casmith can't even defend you.

You can believe what you want to believe, as per the status quo. Oh by the way, I've never defended you on this forum.

Even if you think you're going to work out a long-term deal, I'd still sign the tender in the event negotiations take until the following off-season. That way you'll maximize your earnings.

But if what you're saying is that basically Austin and Sensabaugh aren't going anywhere, I agree wtih you

No way I thought this bum would be back. I expected his spot to be filled by a rookie lineman. I pray he doesn't have to see the field this season

Eventually they might if no headway is made on a new contract, but they will most likely do everything they can to work out a new contract first. (Sign the tender and there is less urgency for the team to work on a contract.) That's the way it usually works with RFAs who are starters.

Again, look at the Barber deal. He did not sign his tender and worked out away from the team until a deal was worked out. Hamlin essentially did the same thing with his franchise tag. You don't sign those things unless you plan to play for that one-year price.

Makes good sense. Except the working out away from the team stuff. I might be a different guy, but if it were me I would continue to do all the right things and let my agent handle the paperwork.

Yeah, I didn't care for that, either. I'm not sure, though, if they are allowed to work out with the team while not under contract, especially during minicamps and OTAs. Could be wrong about that, though, because I believe I've read of players not under contract continuing conditioning work at team facilities until they sign.
