Yah..!!! We win!!!!

Blow loot on a 30 year old with 4.65 speed who holds the ball like a loaf of bread!

Especially when you have more important people to sign or have money for like Canty, Flo, Hamlin and the Barbarion..

Stupid move if it happens. Let him walk and let BP pay him 3 million a year
Do you still think we're gonna regret passing on Quinn?

sweet, hope it happens.

What about Davone Bess for the slot?

He looks like he has incredible hands and heckuva lot more wiggle than Crayton.

As long as he doesn't get starter's money I am in favor of Crayton being here for a long time. He is a solid #3 and an OK punt returner.

Some people seem to perceive that Crayton isn't a starter, and I'm curious as to where this perception originated.

Crayton is normally the third or fourth option in Dallas' offense behind Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, and sometimes, Marion Barber. Yet, he's still managed to snag 48 passes for 689 yards and 5 TDs. If his day against Washington is even moderately productive, he'll exceed 50 passes and 700 receiving yards.

By contrast, Alvin Harper's most productive season was 33 catches for 821 yards. Harper never exceeded more than 36 catches in a season yet was considered the consummate second receiver.

Admittedly, Crayton isn't an elite number two wide receiver such as Reggie Wayne or TJ Houshmandzadeh, but he's perfectly suited for Garrett's offense.

I agree, but I think it's 7 TDs Crayton has caught

and Wayne and TJ are more like #1 WRs, I mean that in they could be the #1 guy for every team in the league

Crayton is 28. He doesn't turn 30 until after next season.

I really hope we dont overpay him.

He is a solid player dont get me wrong, but he is a poor mans Keyshawn.

He doesnt have good speed, can not make people miss, yet has very reliable hands and is an asset to move the chains.

As long as we do not overpay him, and keep him as a slot receiver, I'm ALL for this move. Great slot receivers are often underappreciated. However if we give him #2 money, I think it is a huge mistake, and I hope we dont fall in love with our current roster so much that we start overpaying to keep our players.

You're right. It is 7 TDs. Crayton is tied for 14th most TD receptions by a wide receiver. By contrast, Harper never caught more than 8 in a season.

he's an integral part of the team who's raised his play every year, this is how you win championships

+1, crayton reminds of kmart. not much speed but sure hands you could depend on, on 3rd downs. 3rd downs are key in the nfl for a winning ball club. 5.5 million signing bonus is chump change.

Are you really comparing our passing game of this year to the 90's passing game? Not to mention comparing TOUCHDOWNS?

Dude, the league is more passing than it was in the 90's and we had the best RB in the game to find the goal line. Aikman never threw for more than 27 TD's I believe. Emmitt broke the record for rushing TD's. You cant compare touchdowns between Harper and Crayton, it's apples to oranges.

He catches touchdowns, although we throw alot so there are going to be many opportunities to score. Not to mention the emphasis put on T.O. and Witten in the red zone and he's going to get his opportunities. Stats dont always tell the whole story man.

Umm People...Crayton has been playing the #2 reciever all year in the best offense Dallas has ever had. I think he quallifies as a legit #2. He is just not a #2 waiting to become a #1 like Wayne. Hell, I would call Harrison a #2 to be perfectly honest.

Well its working out well for my team so its working out great! That was put on there in July and I was wrong. I can admit that. But my Man Love for Brady ' The Truth' Quinn still burns ;)

And NextGenBoys is exactly right..

He is a Keyshawn Clone who is shorter, talks trash like he was picked Number 1 overall, cant seperate from Thomas Davis, holds the ball like he is Deion thus being a fumble waiting to happen. He is no more than a #3. Save the money Jerry and resign your studs, not your soon to be 30 year old WR with no speed whose potential has already peaked.

I wonder what Wes Welker's contract looks like

Not sure how accurate this is:

3/5/2007: Signed a five-year, $18.1 million contract. The deal included a $5.5 million signing bonus. Welker counts $1.7 million against the cap in 2007. 2007: $550,000 (+ $50,000 workout bonus), 2008: $1.4 million (+ $3.5 million option bonus + $250,000 roster bonus + $100,000 workout bonus), 2009: $1.65 million (+ $250,000 roster bonus + $100,000 workout bonus), 2010: $1.9 million (+ $250,000 roster bonus + $100,000 workout bonus), 2011: $2.15 million (+ $250,000 roster bonus + $100,000 workout bonus), 2012: Free Agent

Link

Not sure how much Crayton's contract would be worth, but the Signing Bonus is certainly comparable.

I was kind of hoping that Ken Hamlin was getting a contract extension, and he still may.

I think he will, he's been great, we don't have to worry about giving up the deep passing play w/ him giving help over the top

I like Crayton, but dont ever compare him to Wayne. He's only superior to him in hands and not dropping as many balls, that's it. Wayne's deeper and does a better job of getting open vertically. Crayton cant even get past your average corner in single coverage. Let's see him catch 6 passes for 100+ yards and 2 TD's without T.O. and Glenn on the field, then talk.

This makes Crayton's accomplishments all the more impressive.

The 2007 Dallas Cowboy clearly lack the dominant ground game of the mid-90s Cowboys. Harper thrived against defenses that were playing 8 man fronts and fully explecting run.

Crayton has no such luxury. His offense is heavily oriented towards pass and defenses counter with extra defensive backs. Yet Crayton still manages to outproduce Harper in many respects despite lacking Harper's speed.

He catches touchdowns, although we throw alot so there are going to be many opportunities to score. Not to mention the emphasis put on T.O. and Witten in the red zone and he's going to get his opportunities. Stats dont always tell the whole story man.

Stats may not always "tell the whole story," but they are indicative of production. And Crayton's production warrants his status as a number two receiver.
