At least we know its not personal knowledge or logic but bias that fuels your thoughts. I am moving along because there is nothing to see here.

I bet the issue is something relatively mundane. Ex: Reeves wanted a multi-year deal and Jones wanted an option out of the contract if he changes coaching staffs. Something reasonable to both parties but a sticking point for both that they couldn't get past.

the problem I have is that Jerry apparently wasn't willing to bring in a real football mind into the organization

so if a mundane issue keeps Reeves out, that just sucks

Yes, more than one person has come to that conclusion.

That's what the rest of the league is thinking for sure. why does a coaching staff need a baby sitter?

Since it's all speculation, maybe the one thing is related to an out clause?

seems clear to me that theogt was right.

Reeves was coming here to babysit garrett. He was going to serve as another voice in the offensive meetings etc..

which leads to all kinds of problems.

I wonder if this will have an effect on Wade. If wade has made it this public that he is uncomfortable with garrett and the guy he was bringing in to trump garrett now quits.....where does that lead him.

remember when we used to have problems like who is going to call plays? Parcells, sporano, haley or chris palmer!!!!! Those things used to dominate discussions.

now look at what a mess this place is.

The players are turned off by garrett.

Garrett is obviously turned off by owens.

Wade is apparently not involved in anything to do with the offense.

Wade has to fire two of his hires in stewart and read and then his ally reeves who was going to be his eye on the offensive side of the ball quits.

The players see that wade is uncomfortable with garrett yet he cant do anything about it and that will lead to all kinds of new problems.

What a mess. Could we just get rid of everyone already and bring in qualified people to be in charge?

Good post, spot on in my opinion.

The official coronation of this fiasco will be the day Campo is named defensive coordinator.

And from there the logical progression is Dave Campo as head coach for another round of 5-11 seasons.

Yeah in Dan's opinion.

Let's hear what JJ has to say. JJ is often more diplomatic on those things. So nobody loses his face. I like that way a bit more but i understand Reeves too. Some people act like that when theire feelings get hurt.

This team is a major grease fire right now and the Reeves situation appears to just make it worse. I also agree that Jerry looks more and more like the out of touch Al Davis (his idol) with each passing day. I thought he'd get like him in ten years or so, but not so soon.

That said, this whole situation can be rectified. Fire the ENTIRE coaching staff and bring in a guy like Shanahan, who can immediately command AND KEEP the respect of his players. It's just that simple. Any motivated, well coached, and marginally talented NFL team will go places. The problem is that we need Jerrah to fall and bump his head like he did when he hired Parcells.

It probably went like this...

Jerry, you have to step back and allow there only to be one authority figure. You cannot allow the players to use you to deflect Wade's authority as the head coach. I need this in the contract so that my job cannot be underminded.

Based on the following language?

No, not at all.
Doesn't seem like it but it's possible. Reeves thought JJ was okay to take TO out and JJ changed his mind. Perhaps one of the things was the wording regarding personnel.

I swear.....if we could make just ONE positive change this offseason! I am not all about cut T.O right away. None of us know how he is behind the scenes but cutting T.O. is the first thing I do if it is affecting the teams focus or unity. Same goes for Romo or any other person who ruins the teams chemistry! You gotta look at the bigger picture! It is obvious that we arent going to turn this around in a season by signing all the big names. We need to just get some good leaders and sit back and work on football!

I am truly saddened that we have become such emotional wimps; raging and bellyaching at the slightest provocation. This boo hoo attitude has to stop.

I know this is not the popular view but I am glad that Reeves or any other consultant was not brought in because we would be straddling the fence and that is begging for mediocrity.

I am of the opinion that we should either fire Wade and Co or let them coach. No coach wants someone second-guessing their every move. I could care less if Wade public speak says so. It is time to **** or get off the pot.

Wade is either going to be here or not. The NFL is too fickle to give up this early. You all can have my white flag at least let us get past the draft and free agency first.

Basically. Reeves would've only had as much impact as Jerry would've allowed anyways. He could've consulted until he was blue in the face and it wouldn't have mattered one iota if Jerry didn't listen to him.

The fact he lasted only 2 days just demonstrates even more that Jerry doesn't want to listen to anyone else. He just wants to continue being surrounded by his 'yes' men.

It just makes no sense. He just can't be content with hiring a great coach and GM and bankroll the operation and try to win that way. He can't even be content with being the GM and hiring a great HC and let the coach have full control over his own coaching staff and team. No, Jerry has to be the GM in control of all player personnel, he has to control the coaching staff hiring most of the assistants, and he has to be the main face of the team so that if by some chance the team actually wins he can get all the glory and credit. But the team has never won with him doing it this way, but by golly, he's going to keep trying and trying and trying even though he keeps failing and failing and failing. The man's ego knows no bounds.

First time for everything. :D

This whole "one thing" that kept him from signing on the dotted line is killing me. I can't imagine what it is.

No kidding.

Troy Aikman said he suspected it had to do with commitment from a time standpoint and money. Reeves has grandchildren in ATL and didn't want a 24x7 job with a coaching title where he wasn't getting paid like a 24x7 coach.

But he was just speculating or at least was clear he didnt have any real firsthand knowledge.

I just know this sucks.
We needed Reeves voice imho.
