DMN Blog: Expect the 'Boys best effort this week/Amendola's time coming to an end

So, it would be nice if he could get some seperation against other team's 3rd and 4th stringers.

He has. Re-watch the games. He was consistently open given the few opportunities that he had...which were few. Bartel just never found him.

...and while this is the likely outcome (him not making the final 53), the last time I checked, JJT isn't making the calls...or particularly apt to reporting accurately what the coaches are thinking.

Let's wait until the 26th before we battle this one out.

Bartel has only thrown one interception this preseason, when he was specifically targeting Amendola in the slot and Amendola couldn't get any seperation against Denver's 3rd string slot back and was trying to improvise a 3rd or 4th move trying to sandlot his way open.

The quote below explains the play as it unfolds.

Danny #18 goes across the middle, then cuts back towards the outside. The DB is all over his back on his outside shoulder. That's why Danny stopped and cut back towards the middle again. This was to late because Bartel was already releasing the ball.

The pattern your referring to was a short pattern. The DB could of made a play on the ball or got a pass interference call had Danny continued, Danny also might of had a reception. The point is with that tight of coverage, the pass shouldn't been thrown. This also explains why Danny cut it back to the inside. (sandlot)

That couldn't be it.

Riiiight. We all know that good receivers can use telepathy to order the QB to throw it to them and then also use telekinesis to make the ball fly accurately, right?

Where'd you get that breakdown from?

I will just say per Tony Romo or T.O. - That Amendola's days are not coming to an end.

To be fair, if you're referring to the Hard Knocks comments by Romo and Owens, those were likely filmed up to two weeks ago. A lot has changed.

I am, but we don't get to see practice, and from the games, I have not seen the talent at OL or LB to keep extra there either. So if, like pacman said that Amendola runs the best routes of everyone outside of T.O., he is worth a roster spot.

I just want the kid to get a fair shot.

I have faith in Danny to play better now. That fumble really hurt his chances. Those Texas Tech WR always seem to have the core elements that will lead to success. I really hope we keep this kid on the roster.

duh.... at the breakdown store. If it's cracked, dented, broken, worn out, smells real bad and left for dead, they got it. Members only of course, sorry :D

Hint: try your tv using slowmo, seeing is believing

I did......................That's why I asked.

Bartel has really struggled to get the ball to the WRs, so far Amendola and Lowber are the only receivers who have a catch from him.

It's not a good sign when the head coach says the team will probably keep five receivers - four active on game days - and Amendola probably needs to beat out Patrick Crayton for the punt return job to earn a roster spot.

The good news for Amendola is that he's scheduled to get a long look Friday night, although he's going to be catching passes for Richard Bartel, which isn't necessarily a postive.

The five receivers the Cowboys will keep are T.O., Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, Miles Austin and Isaiah Stanback. Four receivers will probably be active each week and one will be inactive, which will be Miles for the first few weeks.

Adam Jones is probably going to get several opportunities to return punts in addition to Crayton. The bottom line: Amendola's time is quickly coming to an end.

It's too bad because the effort is there, but it's just not enough.

Crocodile tears.

Get a bigger TV, set closer, get your finger out of your nose and pay attention. :D

It's just a repost of mine from a couple days ago. Went through the play is slowmo as I was taking notes. I'm just another die hard fan that has way to much time on his hands waiting for the freaking season to get here already.
