DMN Blog: Expect the 'Boys best effort this week/Amendola's time coming to an end

Romo=Bartel? Or Johnson? He can't dominate when we have below sub-par QB's. He doesn't stand a chance. I've yet to see two QB's throw the ball any slower than these two. Geez. Brad cause he's old and Bartel cause he hasn't a clue.

I want to see what he does after the catch. That's his gig.
Oh that's the perspective I'm supposed to have? I'll pass.

What have you seen in game action that has led you to believe he would play better with the 1s? He was playing with and against 3rd string backups. So he was operating on an even playing field. He's supposed to shine on that level as much as he can to earn his opportunities to move up.

It won't hurt him to get put on a practice squad, get into a NFL weight training program, and perfect his craft. Three years a guy like him might've made the final 53. Now, not so much. He still could move up later in the season if he really stands out.

Don't give Nors too much credit. He often takes contrary positions or makes wild predictions which go against conventional logic. Its almost embarassing when the majority of the board is proven right in those cases.

Anyone with a bit of common sense could see that Amendola was a long shot and that he had to show something in order to make the final 53. He hasn't done that, so his window of opportunity is dimming. Nors doesn't get props for that. He gets props for standing his ground, but not for that.

adbutcher;2200959 said:
I must of missed something because Nors is not the only that had this perspective.

Ty Law's coming to Dallas for example.

Naturally he is the only person who was not on that bandwagon who will get noticed.

What does that tell you?

:laugh2:

Just stirring the drink, ladies and gents. There's no rule that says Nors gets to be the board's *only* attention *****, is there?

I'd like to see them add a solid veteran, if one is to be had, and send Amenola and the tattoo warrior packing.

And Joe Horn does not = solid vet.

I'm a tad bit concerned that we're actually going to go into game days with only 4 active WR's. I mean doesn't that really hamper what you might want to do, in terms of spreading it out, if you get a guy hurt?

*shrugs* Probably won't mean anything, in the long run, but that just seems like rolling the dice in an area that I really wouldn't roll it.

Given that we'll almost always have Witten and a RB on the field, we probably won't have many 4 WR sets, if that's what you're talking about.

Garrett never used more than a 3 WR set last year.

We haven't seen much from Amendola as a WR. His oppotunities have been limited due to playing time and QB quality. You can't make an impression if the pass is not thrown your way. We don't have access to the coaching film so we don't know if he's getting open. Alot of unknowns here for "us".

We have heard plenty about him but seeing is believing. I think writing him off the roster is a bit premature at this point. We have 2 down and 2 to go, let's give him and the other WRs a chance.

You may have any perspective you wish. But you can't say 2+2 is 2. Yes, a receiver/QB combination is an equation.

My point exactly.......I've seen none. That's why I'd like to see him witjh the first. Hell I'd like to see him with any body other that the two we got. You'd think they'd go out of their way to find him if he's as good as they've portrayed in TC.

Yeah? Disagree. If your QB's are athletically and/or mentally inferior from a receiver standpoint how does that bode for "even playing field"?

I totally agree with this. Sad thing is we'll propbably never know, this season, whether he truly belongs there.

Not even once? Wow. Some of you people watch these games with paper in pencil in hand and write down everything. :)

I started using a micro-recorder. Alot easier. ;)

Because you're also going up against the other team's training camp fodder cornerbacks.

So what? He'll dominate running his routes? He'll shine? If you don't get the ball it could be Mrs. Price out there, no?

So, it would be nice if he could get some seperation against other team's 3rd and 4th stringers.

Bartel has only thrown one interception this preseason, when he was specifically targeting Amendola in the slot and Amendola couldn't get any seperation against Denver's 3rd string slot back and was trying to improvise a 3rd or 4th move trying to sandlot his way open.

And even if Amendola does improve somewhat with Brad Johnson, it still doesn't change the fact that he's light years behind Hurd and Austin, so he'll probably never play a snap as a WR and he offers absolutely nothing on special teams. So what's he doing on the roster? It's not like he has a lot of untapped potential to develop for a few years down the road. This isn't Miles Austin from 3 years ago who barely knew how to run routes. Amendola's strength is supposed to be that he's so smart and is so polished and runs good routes ... what ceiling does he have to reach?

He slowed on the route cause Bartel took to long on his checkdown. That interception is on Bartel. Amendola had seperation. Go back and watch it.

This doesn't make sense. He's light years behind Hurd and Austin, who could barely run routes (a little over kill - IMO), yet he's known for running good routes? You don't know if he could or could not contribute on ST's.

He hasn't produced against the third stringers. Why does he deserve a chance to jump in against the 1st team?

Ummm...maybe because he had a third stringer throwing it to him?
