Amendola is another Berry-O... a fan favorite.

The Great White Hype is 2 small and 2 slow..

Heart will only get you so far in this league. Talent is what gets drafted not heart. You have to play with heart to be a stud but you dont need it to get in the league. I.E. #80

He will be on the pratice squad..

I almost forgot about Beriault. He was awesome! I wish things with his knee would have worked out. That is a disappointing end to your career before you even take a snap in the regular season. :(

I like Amendola too. :(

Oh, but I thought he was the next West Welker?

Nobody that's pulling for Amendola said that.

Actually NOBODY has said that. It's "WES" Welker.

Get a bigger TV, set closer, get your finger out of your nose and pay attention. :D

It's just a repost of mine from a couple days ago. Went through the play is slowmo as I was taking notes. I'm just another die hard fan that has way to much time on his hands waiting for the freaking season to get here already.

Dude, get a mini-recorder. ALOT easier. You got the quarter, time, down and distance in about 3 seconds. Call the play like the announcers.

You can go back on the play in question.

These Damn Kids...............Buy 'em books.............. :bang2:

Frankly, I don't think Amendola had many chances to catch a ball with Bartel throwing to him... no matter how much seperation he got.

Da Amendola may or may not make the 53, but I would like to see him play a little with Romo and company just to see how he fares.

That's just me though.

I was mentally taking notes. http://img.***BLOCKED***/albums/v628/cowboyszone/zone_icons/clayton_z1.gif

DVR, DVD burner, video recorder and even a 8 track player for catching that awesome semi-surround sound. I do alright.

Blah. It's just a quote. I'm still holding on to hope that Amendola gets spared from the axe. But he had a tough road to begin with. I'll be squinting my eyes when I find out if he gets cut or not....

Either way, he's not ready yet... so I think we go with the strongest team as Wade sees fit. It was fun rooting for the little dude tho. He has upside. It just might be for another team right now.

Hopefully keeping only 5 WR means Jerry has plans in work to acquire a real good vet.

so who would go if we get a vet?
TO? nope.
Crayton? nope.
hurd, austin or stanback?

with a vet one of those goes w/only 5.

You'll get the Dallas Cowboys best effort this week

You'll get the best performance of the preseason from the Cowboys' starters Friday against Houston.

First, they're going to play just about three quarters. Second, they will have had four nights at home in their own beds. Finally, they realize it's important to set a tone heading into the regular season.

Wade Phillips knows he made a mistake by not blitzing that much against Denver and giving quarterback Jay Cutler enough time to feel comfortable in the pocket and throw the ball without pressure.

He won't do that again, though it's unclear why he did it in the first place. All I can say is I hope it didn't have anything to do with breaking some unwritten code about not blitzing opponents in the preseason.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. As a friend of mine likes to say, "I can't coach my team and your team too."

On another note, I'd also expect Tony Romo to be a lot sharper this week, especially since he said the Cowboys would've scored a lot of points if they had played more than two series against Denver.

Just so you know, I would've won the lottery had I bought a ticket. You get my point?
The Cowboys' starters know they have yet to put together a complete performance.

They do have pride - even in the preseason. That's why you'll get the best they have to offer against the Texans.

If they're not impressive. Then you have every right to be concerned.

Danny Amendola's time coming to an end

It's not a good sign when the head coach says the team will probably keep five receivers - four active on game days - and Amendola probably needs to beat out Patrick Crayton for the punt return job to earn a roster spot.

The good news for Amendola is that he's scheduled to get a long look Friday night, although he's going to be catching passes for Richard Bartel, which isn't necessarily a postive.

The five receivers the Cowboys will keep are T.O., Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, Miles Austin and Isaiah Stanback. Four receivers will probably be active each week and one will be inactive, which will be Miles for the first few weeks.

Adam Jones is probably going to get several opportunities to return punts in addition to Crayton. The bottom line: Amendola's time is quickly coming to an end.

It's too bad because the effort is there, but it's just not enough.

Not if the plan is to have 6 wr and we are only gonna keep 5 of the ones on the team now.

So, it would be nice if he could get some seperation against other team's 3rd and 4th stringers.

Bartel has only thrown one interception this preseason, when he was specifically targeting Amendola in the slot and Amendola couldn't get any seperation against Denver's 3rd string slot back and was trying to improvise a 3rd or 4th move trying to sandlot his way open.

And even if Amendola does improve somewhat with Brad Johnson, it still doesn't change the fact that he's light years behind Hurd and Austin, so he'll probably never play a snap as a WR and he offers absolutely nothing on special teams. So what's he doing on the roster? It's not like he has a lot of untapped potential to develop for a few years down the road. This isn't Miles Austin from 3 years ago who barely knew how to run routes. Amendola's strength is supposed to be that he's so smart and is so polished and runs good routes ... what ceiling does he have to reach?
:hammer:

Inman my man, you nailed it with this post. Gold star for you my friend.

I won't touch the White WR from Texas angle - but suffice to say he was not that there is no story here.

Real Roster cuts are at CB/DL/OL - no way we cut those guys for Amendola. In fact we may pick up a ST gunner/Kick off coverage type player off waivers....

What is this? Like the tenth time you've rejuvenated a day old thread about Amendola to prove your 'I don't care' status. I'm not buying it. Neither is anyone else. Tool.

Yeagh - I started all these Amendola hero threads???????? - LOL

I never stated that you did...and wouldn't expect you to understand the difference. Your grasp of the obvious is very weak.

Lol -

My grasp of the obvious is outstanding here. For weeks been saying Amendola had nill to no chance to make our 53.

Zrin - quick to cheap attacks and avoid football issue's. You can't win here on merit and YOU know it - LOL

Amendola is a fringe UDFA wide receiver that likely never amounts to anything in the NFL. Shame on me for calling that out. Back to regular programming.
