I had a kid in Rec league Basketball this year that really did not want to listen to me. I had him on my team a couple years before and he was a great, nice kid and he still was a nice kid but he did not like being told what to do. He thought he was the best on the team and he would be fine.

One day, during a game, he was yelling at his teammate for not passing him the ball and I was trying to get him to come over to me so I could talk to him about it. He was ignoring me so much that I had to reach my finger inside his tank top and pull him to me to get him to look at me.

His mom at the end of the game told me I should apologize to him for embarrassing him. That did not happen!

Evidently some fans have made up their minds on Bennett and it really does not matter what he does. This is not the 1st time a player has made the comments that what you see on Hard Knocks is not exactly the way things are. However if people want to jump on Bennett based on the show that is their choice.

No, we're mad because the warnings we heard about him on draft day have come to fruition. He didn't get it in college, he's not getting it now, and we're wondering if he ever will get it. I'm not inclined to make excuses for a 20-yo man. Other rookies aren't pulling this ****. If HBO is making him look bad, then why give them so many opportunities to do so? He better have all-world talent, because we won't put up with this **** indefinitely.

Ditto on that Doomsday.It's amazing to me that people are going to judge someone on 20 to 30 second sound bites of a reality tv show.Also we're only seeing these 20 to 30 seconds out of a full day of practice.I'm sure all the haters never let up at their jobs the full eight to whatever hours they're at work.

Also someone said Jerry is doing damage control.Yeah I'm sure Jerry is really worried about people on a messageboard's opinion of one of his draft picks.

Jones Impressed By Rookie Tight End

Oh, Jerra is such a gentleman. If you recall he heaped praise on Jimma when he announced his BEST coach he would ever hire was stepping down.

Jerra praised Terry Glenn as late as one week before Terry was shown the door.

Jerra would praise a burglar in his home for ingenuity, cunning and stealth.

so I realla can't recall Jerra evah criticizing anyone. Not Carmen Polici, not Galloway, not the coaches he fired. Not nobody, and excuse the double negative.

I would not read too much into whatever Jerra says. He's a hard-bitten businessman but also a gentleman.

I noticed in the first episode that he seemed disinterested but dismissed it. The second episode he really looked like a head case and disrespectful.
He looks like someone who just got a fat check and thinks he has made it already.

You can edit the footage any way you want, but it doesn't excuse the fact that he's not doing what Garrett tells him to do. Plus it really rubbed me the wrong way when he educated all of us to the fact that his 1.26 was "guaranteed" and then proceeded to not sing for the team.

the rookies are supposed to say their name, signing bonus, and then sing. he didn't just mention his bonus out of the blue

Saying Bennett is acting that way because of the HBO cameras is bull! Were they at A&M? Because, before the 'Boys picked in the second rd., Jones was warned that Bennett was very athletic, but immature & lazy. (Why else would he say you have to keep your foot on his neck?)

Garrett acts that way with Bennett because he gets no respect or response from the punk. If he doesn't shape up, I would pull him in on the carpet & tell him to shape up or we eat the pick and cut him. He'll know that if the Cowboys cut a second rd. pick for being lazy & mutanous (sp), no one will touch him. He'll be a leper before he ever plays a game.

I can't believe Witten hasn't gotten in his face yet. Of course, even when Majic & Jerry pulled him aside, he wasn't very responsive, either, so what good would it do?

This is sad. There are millions of guys who would give just about anything to be where he is, and he couldn't care less.

Bingo. Jerry is in damage control mode. He has no choice. Parcells made us look like fools by trading a fourth round pick for Fasano and a LB, then we turn around and waste a second round pick on this slacker.

It bears watching is all that anyone should come away with here. Too harsh is too much. Writing it off is not enough. Watch and wait.

Exactly. Jerry knows he has to talk up Bennett all over the place because he's a 2nd round pick of his.

He did the same thing for years with Quincy.

Besides, when does Jerry ever say anything bad or non complimentary about any of his current players. Doesn't happen.

I just hope that if and when the kids "gets it" that the 2 minutes of total time he was on hard knocks does not keep the fans opinion of him as trash.

I was as mad as anyone after the initial viewing ..... but you have to remember that this is a kid we are talking about.

Witten and T.O. need to stay on his arse.

Do you know how many 'kids' are out in the world at 20 years old who don't act like a 5 year old and are being paid a lot less than he is and who are a lot more focused on being prideful in what they do.
