Love how everyone excuses him because he's a kid, lol.

Do you know how many 'kids' are out in the world at 20 years old who don't act like a 5 year old and are being paid a lot less than he is and who are a lot more focused on being prideful in what they do.

Think Iraq.

Excellent point.

Maybe if we sent him to Iraq he would grow up and appreciate the life and oppotunity he has in the NFL. Training camp in Iraq for all whiners and underperformers.....load em up Jerrah and make them run in the hot sandy desert.

I can only speak for myself, but it's less an excuse than an explanation.

I fixed it for you BBgun...

Exactly. Jerry knows he has to talk up Bennett all over the place because he's a 2nd round pick of his.

He did the same thing for years with Quincy.

Besides, when does Jerry ever say anything bad or non complimentary about any of his current players. Doesn't happen.

I especially loved how Jerry got the media to lie and say Bennett made a great block and a catch as he was lying to us all....

Maybe it was CGi'd, like the way they got Bennett to laugh at his coach.

By the way, I just pnwed you on the other board.

Jones Impressed By Rookie Tight End

Posted by nickeatman at 8/13/2008 8:00 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones is excited about several players, but he couldn’t stop talking about rookie tight end Martellus Bennett during the afternoon practice Wednesday against the Broncos.

In a rare move, Jones strolled over towards a handful of reporters on the sidelines and commented on Bennett’s improved play since the first OTAs this summer, mentioning not only his route-running and consistent hands, but his powerful blocking as well.

The next two plays, Bennett made a crushing block on a Broncos defensive end, sealing off the side for a big run by rookie tailback Keon Lattimore.

Before Jones’ could finish his sentence on Bennett’s improved blocking, the rookie from Texas A&M made a swift move into the secondary and found a hole in the zone defense to haul in a 15-yard completion from Brad Johnson.

Bennett is taking some hits for his so-called “poor body language” but at least he’s making a good impression on one person that really counts.

People are just to quick to want to cut someone for one episode of a TV show. It amazes me, why don't you guys who are so quick to want to cut him let the coaches do there job and let this guy actually develop. Like i said in the other thread about Bennett, he's a work in progress, he probably wont see the field to much this year so let the kid get better acclimated to the NFL .

So, I haven't seen the show. Is this clip what everyone is upset about because I don't see anything there to worry about. Or is there other footage where he sulks and doesn't listen to coaches?

I think there must be a clip where Bennett kills TE Coach John Garrett and goes to his home and eats his small children - and won't put on his helmet.

Walking the talk

Rookie tight end Martellus Bennett’s laid-back nature and seemingly couldn’t-care-less attitude has been one of the hot topics of training camp.

Sports Illustated’s Peter King criticized him for having poor body language, while HBO is chronicling the tough love he’s getting from tight ends coach John Garrett weekly on Hard Knocks.

Bennett said he’s been this way his whole life and doesn’t care what outsiders think as long as the Cowboys are happy with his performance.

"That’s how people are," said Bennett, when asked about being judged from his body language. "It’s America. They will judge a book before they read it. It’s about what happens between the snaps that matter. For all they know, I could have Scoliosis or something. I just walk like that. But they never know. That is just the way I walk. I just walk funny."

For the record, Bennett acknowledges that his play between the snaps has not always been up to snuff in training camp. He said he’s glad he has a coach like Garrett to push him. He said he and Garrett have a good relationship.

Owner Jerry Jones said Bennett’s play has improved over the last week and his teammates agree. Bennett said he’s regularly stays after practice getting extra lessons from receiver Terrell Owens, tight end Jason Witten and Garrett.

"Only people I got to impress are Mr. Jones and my teammates," Bennett said. "As long as they are happy and they feel like I am getting better that is all that really matters."

"But stay tuned to the next episode of Hard Knocks, I think things are going to turn," Bennett said with a smile.

I think he is forgetting a few people there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a problem and kind of what I thought Jerry was encouraging with his comments!

GUys, take off the tin foil hats for a few seconds. If Jerry is pleased with him (after all, Jerry is the only one that has a right to complain as he is the one signing the checks) then maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge.

It's just plain rediculous that people want to judge him completely based on what they have "seen" on two episodes of Hard Knocks. If Jerry starts complaining about the kid, then get concerned. Until then, take a pill and relax.

If you want to dismiss his attitude with his coaches, you can go ahead, but if you had a team full of that you would really suck.

It is a stinky attitude he has shown with Garrett, it is seen by every teamate, and Jerry is endorsing it with the continual praise.

That is not a good thing any way you slice it. If a rookie TE can act that way to his coach and still get praised by the owner, what are TO,Witten and Romo allowed to get away with.

The leaders on this offense need to set this attitude straight IMO
