I've never seen so much hate for a ROOKIE before...

Did anyone use the word hate?

No, it's called criticism. Sorry we don't love everything thing every player does 24/7.

And it's also by fans who would love to see him change his ways and help the team win football games.

Because Peter King has no vested interest in anything he does.

Garrett, Phillips, Jerry all do because they coach him and made the decision to draft him. Of course they are always going to lean on the positive side of things will all of their players.

Everyone in the entire organization said Terry Glenn would be back and ready for the 2008 season with guns blazing when they were asked about him a few months ago.

Then we heard Jerry say he didn't even think Jerry was healthy enough to practice on Hard Knocks.

So when you say you can't believe everything the media says then I would say the same can be said for the Cowboys coaches, players and owners.

So when you have the two sides (Staff vs, Media) saying something different, you choose the media side to believe, how interesting.

No but when you add the footage of him on hard knocks with what the media is saying it seems pretty clear who is right. And like I mentioned why have Magic single him out to talk about work ethic while Jerry is standing right there if it isnt an issue.

2 plus 2 always = 4 regardless of what the staff says.

I'm just curious, do we know for sure that Magic didn't talk to other players, one on one about work ethic or other things? Just because we didn't see it on tv, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. HBO chose to focus on him so they use which ever clips of him they choose to use.

Maybe they picked showing him talking to Magic because he did not appear to be listening or even looking at him while he spoke.

Or, maybe he is just a Celtic fan like me and told Jerry to get that sorry Laker out of my face!!!!!!!!

Cool...

So the staff lies. Good to know.

I do think that Garrett is probably a bit harder on Bennett then on a guy like Witten or Curtis but then again, he's probably harder for a reason and I think that reason was clearly exibited last night.
I see where you are coming from. Does is demeanor not remind you of JJ?

I am pretty sure they do.

I think if you weighed all the dirty laundry vs praise that all NFL coaches/staffs do, it will be overwhelmingly on the praise side.

Bottom line is Bennett needs to grow up some. Yeah he is a rookie. Are Felix, Jenkins, Scandrick and so on acting like him?

I certainly am not calling him a bust, and understand there is a lot a time left before any permanent judging should be done, but right now he needs to get his act together.

Unfortunately Dallas likes to draft "project or developmental" players based on potential that hardly ever work out.

Stanback may be another Skyler Green....

Bennett may be another David Lafleur....

What does it matter if he spoke to every single player on the team in that manner.

One of them was Bennett and the kid was looking right past him and Jerry at some BS going on across the field.

Don't try to turn this into 'Well other players need motivation too ya know'.

Well the kid looks like the parents, and the parents don't think they are ugly. So there you go....can't escape genetics. They say 2 out of 3 people are ugly, so look at the person to the right and the left -- if one of them is not ugly, then you are....

Terry Glenn.

Newman will be back on opening day against the Giants.

Ratliff isn't moving to DE.

Jacques Reeves was a good CB last season, so good we forgot to offer him a contract after the season.

We're pleased with Julius Jones, but we won't attempt to sign him either.

Gimme a break already. Jerry Jones has had his fingers crossed since 1989.

Well actually one of my co-workers thought one of her newborn twins was ugly. A month and a few pounds later, she thinks she's the cutest baby ever born.

Keep the over-reacting going, it's what HBO is spoon feeding you.

Even slow 11 year olds know the only more pathetic than using the word "pwned" is being pathetic enough to claim it yourself...:laugh1:

Walking the talk

by Clarence E. Hill

Rookie tight end Martellus Bennett’s laid-back nature and seemingly couldn’t-care-less attitude has been one of the hot topics of training camp.
Sports Illustated’s Peter King criticized him for having poor body language, while HBO is chronicling the tough love he’s getting from tight ends coach John Garrett weekly on Hard Knocks.

Bennett said he’s been this way his whole life and doesn’t care what outsiders think as long as the Cowboys are happy with his performance.
"That’s how people are," said Bennett, when asked about being judged from his body language. "It’s America. They will judge a book before they read it. It’s about what happens between the snaps that matter. For all they know, I could have Scoliosis or something. I just walk like that. But they never know. That is just the way I walk. I just walk funny."

For the record, Bennett acknowledges that his play between the snaps has not always been up to snuff in training camp. He said he’s glad he has a coach like Garrett to push him. He said he and Garrett have a good relationship.

Owner Jerry Jones said Bennett’s play has improved over the last week and his teammates agree. Bennett said he’s regularly stays after practice getting extra lessons from receiver Terrell Owens, tight end Jason Witten and Garrett.

"Only people I got to impress are Mr. Jones and my teammates," Bennett said. "As long as they are happy and they feel like I am getting better that is all that really matters."

"But stay tuned to the next episode of Hard Knocks, I think things are going to turn," Bennett said with a smile.

So now we have Jerry saying he has improved, his teammates say it and somehow Jerry is getting the media to go along. Now if he could only get couch-riding bloggers to see the light.

Quite the conspiracy for one tight end.

I still don't like the kid.

I don't like him either......

1. he is an Aggie
2. he is way behind schedule cause coach Fran wasted his talent during his stay in College Station
3. he seems to have attitude issues

However, despite all the reasons I don't like him, he does wear the Star and will during the year......and so he is a Dallas Cowboy.....and just as I did with other players I didn't like when they became Cowboys (Deion, Newman, and Roy).....I will root for him to succeed, cause it means success for the Cowboys.
