Oh yeah, that's where I saw the Jimmy interview. :) I didn't comment on the Jimmy part in that thread (I don't think) but it was great stuff from the old coach.

I also agree with what seemed to be Jimmy's point of view on Jerry. Jerry's not all bad like some think -- in fact, a lot of what he does is good. But just one or two things he insists on ruins the rest of it. And that's basically that he has to be in charge of everything and won't ever admit that he can't do it all himself.

It's kind of disconcerting that when Hansen hammered Jerry, he did an even poorer job of defending himself than usual. All the talk about what a risk-taker he is amounts to nothing more than slight of hand.

Oh well. I'm just praying for Tom Ciskowski and our scouts right now.

yep.

and the thing with the scouts is even if they have good info and have a good idea of what to do, jerry can trump them all, like the quincy drafting thing.

and the important part.

To build a team you have to Identify talent, Draft talent, Sign talent, Develop talent.

Its the developing part I worry about in this environment. The mintue they are drafted here they are superstars and celebrities, it is not a good environment. They have poor role models here and once that stuff sets in it cant be beaten out of them.

Jones on Parcells and T.O.: You've gotta realize than Bill bought into Terrell joining our team and don't think Terrell didn't come to this team without Bill's blessing. He wanted to win and use the talents of Terrell as much as anyone in this organization...the entire time Bill was coach they never spoke..."

Yeah, I buy that. You wouldn't lie would ya Jerry?

"the entire time Bill was coach they never spoke..."

But Parcells was all good with the signing.:lmao2:

Hey, you feel the way you feel. I realize you love the 'boys, but your pessimistic views is like reading an obituary.

Since I know you feel the team is dying a slow death, I can't help but find it humorous when you make comments about being even more pessimistic.

Understood, I dont mean to be a downer, its like you said though it kills me to watch this stuff happen again. After all that time where this franchise was a mess and it finally was turned around and it just needed patience and to stay the course.

Now we are back to being one of the crazy franchises again with poor decision makers at the top.

Well I do think you're too pessimistic about that part, theebs. Which of our rookies didn't develop well this year? They all came along very well.

And besides, if we crater this year, Jerry will bring in Holmgren or Shanahan next year. And even if he insists on trying to convince everyone he's the one running things, people will know better.

If holmgren comes here, I will be right back to where I was with parcells.

Happy with the team, the organization and jerry.

But for right now I just feel like big time doom and gloom is on the horizon!!!!!

All's well, theebs. We've got it under control. In the meantime, check out these headshots of my daughter. We're real proud of her.

Why no mention of 13-3 in 2007?

Fail.

A very good point, which is why I don't think DeSean Jackson would have prospered in Dallas.

I wonder how Roy Williams (the safety), Anthony Spencer and even Tony Romo would do in other systems. I fear that the "star" attitude ruins players here. Can't prove it, but those are my suspicions.

I know, how can he be so stupid and not recognize the logical inconsistancies here?

Roy started going to hell under Parcells. And Spencer has never been celebrated as a star.

Funny how Folk, Choice, and Scandrick have looked anything but ruined.

Which proves that no, Jerry, you don't want to win more than anything. You want to be in control and get attention more than anything.

That and Jerry wants to make money. Don't let any of these owners fool you, even Jones and Snyder. They're not owners to win championships and lose money.

That being said, I do think Jerry seriously wants to win and win badly. He's greatly changed a lot of his strategies and ways of thinking since 2002. Most people in power who are the final decision maker don't make those changes, especially at Jones' age and when they've had success doing it one way.

We've changed from a 4-3 speed scheme to a 3-4 scheme. We've basically stopped drafting players with off the field problems almost completely. We did use smaller, but more mobile O-Linemen for a few years. We're paying coaches more. Spending more on special teams and the kicking game. And many other changes.

Cool, thanks WG.

One of many great quotes from Jerry:

"You know, I came from the oil and gas business. And that really prepared me for being in the NFL."

:abuseme:

And if I hear Jerry pat himself on the back for being such a risk-taker one more time, I'm going to puke.

Jerry Jones.

He may crash and burn more than he likes, but God bless him, he expects you to admire him for trying.

BP wanted TO's production...he got it.

BP didn't want TO's meltdowns...he controlled that, in his mind, by not talking to TO. That focused TO on the coach rather than other things and avoided arguments.

It was BP's way, whether it worked or not, to have his cake and eat it too. He probably believed that TO would make the offense better (which it did) and that he'd control TO with mind games (determine that one for yourself).
