Jerry on his role as GM: "I'm a bigger risk taker... than most others and you can't pay a general manager enough to take the kind of risks that I take because I am the last resort.

what the **** does this even mean? so we don't have a general manager because Jerry wants to take unbelievable and costly risks?

No, we don't have a GM because he likes being one.

As for the unbelieveable risks, I believe Jones thinks that is something he should be admired and even respected for.

Again, he's the Evel Knievel of NFL GMs.

Sadly, this foolish daredevil is jumping the Snake River with our football team every year. I never found Evel very intelligent either.

idk why he can't just say that?

I know why that too, he has an infalted opinion of himself

.

He fashions himself as some huge successful risktaker and this all goes back to him buying a 3-13 team, hiring his college buddy and trading Walker - and all that happened within the first year. But, buying an NFL team isn't anything that any of the other owners haven't done. Hiring Jimmy Johnson wasn't a huge risk. We had just gone 3-13 and he was one of the top college coaches who ran a pro style system and was one of the 49ers options when they were replacing Bill Walsh. And the Walker deal was pursued by Jimmy and was successful only because of the picks Jimmy made with the selections we acquired in that trade.

He considers all of that huge risks that paid off and therefore everytime he makes any dumb decision he can act like he's doing the same thing he did when he hired Jimmy or traded Herschel. But hiring an up and comer like Jimmy to takeover a 3-13 team is a far cry from turning over a super bowl championship team to a washed up option-style college coach like Switzer. But in Jerry's eyes it was the same thing. Just like trading Walker, which was inititated by Jimmy, for tons of picks that Jimmy made good on is the same as giving up 2 #1 picks for Joey Galloway.

Jerry's a bonafide joke when it comes to running a team. The only times we've experienced any true success is the two times he had others making the important decisions.

You have to give the man credit for that.

Not true, he won't empower his coaches and continually hires weak personalities that he can control and undermind.

His "I'll do anything to win" quotes are such a joke.

I'll do everything to win (except stepping back for the betterment of the team and organization) - Jerry Jones

the entire time Bill was coach they never spoke...

He went on to say that Owens asked him (Jones) about that though. So it'd seem the wall was built by somebody other than Owens...hmm selfish? cancer?

If T O was a man , He could have easily had a good relationship with Bill. Any buisness pro. person understands these things...esp with millions of personal dollors indirectly riding on the relationship with ones superiors...

Except for giving up maniacal control...

And the slide toward Al Davisism takes another inexorable step....

He's gonna start mumbling about "stolen strawberries" pretty soon.

I was thinking he's going to snatch Dan Rooney's 6th Super bowl ring from his finger and scream, "my precious."

You know if Gollum were 700 years older, he'd probably look just like Jerry Jones too.

Hmmm...

I've followed this team since 1967. I've NEVER been as disallusioned with this team as I am at this time. I hope I'm dead wrong, but I can honestly say I have no hope for this team next season and I am just waiting for next year's disaster to be over so Jerry can start over once again with a new coach.

It's very sad to feel this way about the team I love so much.

2008 was my worst year as a Cowboys fan. It was brutal.

I feel the same way.

I'm trying to look at any positives I can think of.

On paper, the team still looks good.
