DMN Blog: Jerry Jones sits down with Dale Hansen: Lots of interesting stuff emerges

Wow, CA... So you really think this is the most hopeless this team has ever been in? Worse than Quincy and Vinny at QB? Worse than 1-15? Worse than Tex forcing Paul Hackett on Tom Landry? Worse than Landry's last team that drafted #1 overall? Worse than the late 90s team that was obviously slowly deteriorating from its Super Bowl days? Worse than Campo's 5-11 team that had no cap room or high draft picks?

I just don't see it. We've won 22 games the last two years and have a still-pretty-young QB who has plenty of talent and many years left. It's not like half our team left in free agency or something.

Things may not be perfect, but they aren't that bad, either. To each his own, I guess.

I didn't say that this team is the least talented team or will have the worst record of any team we've had. We all know that's not the case.

But I've never had less hope for a season than I do this coming season. I have been a fan of Jerry's for a long time and I've defended him because I really believed he wanted to win even though he made some bad mistakes.

But I've reached the end of the line with him. I can't say it any clearer than to say Jerry's actions disgust me. He says he wants to win, but he will not admit that he has ruined this franchise and that we are a losing organization with him in charge. I'm sick of the circus and I'm sick of having an owner who is more concerned about selling a product than he is having a winning, classy organization.


I go back to the Cowboy's December record over the past 10 years. It is WORSE than the New Orleans Saints of the '60s and '70s!! Can you imagine that?!


That is the single most shocking Cowboy statistic I have ever seen and it shocked me into reality. Face it. The chances of that record changing this coming season are nil as we continue down the path Jerry has set for this circus/organization.

It's sad, but it's the reality of being a Cowboy fan these days.

He just doesn't know what to do hiring coaches past Jimmy. He's always been good at luring and bringing in the talent, he just doesn't know how to hire the right person to coach said talent.

If he could fix this, I have no other problems with him being GM forever.

What he needs to do is forget the homegrowns, forget the big names, just go out and find another unknown to the NFL college Jimmy type with a fresh perspective on the game. That's not going to happen though, so we had just better hope he's hit the nail on the head with Jason.

My hope with Jason is that last year was a fluke, he can be someone we need again, and with his loyalties towards this organization and his youth, possibly be someone we could have for a long duration. Not too mention he has experience with dealing with Jerry, from a player and coach standpoint. He's got some good tools to start with too, now it's just time to put it all together while he's still got the talent and finally show what he's got. Prove to be that guy and you may even save Jerry in the process, let alone this team.
