I think this situation makes for extending Colombo's contract
more important.Keep grooming people, but the current line up is
a solid unit.

I agree and I think McQ can handle the job. Infact, I wouldn't be suprised if Kosier didn't get his job back.. Just sayin!!!

I definitely hope you're right! ;)

How long will we play Pat McQuistan this Thursday?

Wade just said in the PC that they'll rotate all three (McQ, Berger, and Procter) and that they'll basically let the tape decide who wins.

Said Procter has the most experience, Berger has had a good camp, and McQ is the most athletic (plus McQ has good size, being a tackle)... So they all have different things to offer. Marten will play RT so McQ can play inside all game.

He said he told them that if they want to be a pro football player, this was their chance to show the coaches that they deserved it.

Good PC, especially for those who think Wade is too "soft".

Can you name the five starters the Cowboys used in 2002? The answer will be unveiled at 6 p.m.

I'm not sure there will be a prize other than personal pride, though I might be able to get Tim Cowlishaw to autograph a game program from this week's game."

I have listed the 5 Guards (other than Larry Allen) that were in the starting lineup during 2002 in an earlier post:

1) Kelvin Garmon
2) Solomon Page
3) Ross Tucker
4) Matt Lehr
5) Jeremy McKinney

Here is the breakdown of each player week by week:

Week 1: Larry Allen/Kelvin Garmon
Week 2: Larry Allen/Kelvin Garmon
Week 3: Matt Lehr/Kelvin Garmon
Week 4: Kelvin Garmon/Solomon Page
Week 5: Kelvin Garmon/Solomon Page
Week 6: Larry Allen/Solomon Page
Week 7: Matt Lehr/Solomon Page
Week 8: Jeremy McKinney/Solomon Page --- Emmitt breaks record!!!
Week 9: Jeremy McKinney/Andre Gurode
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: Ross Tucker/Andre Gurode
Week 12: Ross Tucker/Andre Gurode
Week 13: Ross Tucker/Andre Gurode
Week 14: Ross Tucker/Andre Gurode
Week 15: Ross Tucker/Andre Gurode
Week 16: Ross Tucker/Andre Gurode
Week 17: Ross Tucker/Andre Gurode

Jean-Jacques Taylor.....what do I win? :)

Maybe this is an overreaction, but we have some serious problems in identifying and developing OL prospects. If I were Jerry I would look into the problems we have in that area.

None of our young OL have developed to the point they are able to push the starter or for that matter fill in for an injured starter. I hope McQuistan is up to the task.

Honestly, it seems like when it comes to the offensive side of the ball Wade doesn't know what he's talking about or doing. No Felix on KR.......

Nah, we "identified" Bigg as a true guard. :LOL We managed to hold onto Gurode long enough to find out he is a center (as long as we're not in shotgun. :LOL)

I definitely see what you're saying, but some of it has to do with the fact that our starters are the most dominant group in the league. Guys like McQuistan and Berger would probably be starting for other teams.

Wade did sound like he had a bit of an "edge" to him today. Probably ready to start the real season just like we all are.

Been a long road since Jan. 14.

Hopefully this is a blessing in disguise. We added alot more power too that side of the line with McQ if he wins starting job. Really what im worried about is chemistry. Is McQ going to be able to pick up stunts and be able to work with Gurode and Adams.

Coaches will consider three guys at left guard

Tim MacMahon

Pat McQuistan got the first crack at left guard during today's practice, but the coaches will also consider Cory Procter and Joe Berger.

Wade Phillips said the Cowboys will decide on a replacement for Kyle Kosier after watching the game film of Thursday's preseason finale against the Vikings. McQuistan, Procter and Berger will all get significant time at left guard.

"I think the tape will sway us one way or the other or keep us on whoever we thought it'd be in the first place," Phillips said.

Chemistry won't be perfect right away of course but in time, I'm sure he'll be ok. He's been with the team for awhile now. I'm sure he won't prevent our high powered O from scoring points or winning games. Guard is a easy spot to hide a weakness if you have to but I truely think McQ is gonna be fine. I really feel good about HH having him ready. I have alot of faith in HH, he's one of the best in the game...

Same here.

And even if Pat can't do it, I think Berger will be fine. Nate said he was playing well, and he was on Burnett's "strongest guys on the team" list earlier in the year.

McQuistan is the most talented player of the three. He will win the job. Proctor has looked terrible. He gets pushed back easily and can't hold his ground.

It is McQuistan vs Berger.

This shouldn't be close, either. If he picks up the stunts and twists, he will win the job, easy.

The fact that Kosier, Gurode, and Davis were in the last game (in the 4th quarter) with Free and McQuistan, at the tackles, tells you all you really need to know about how Dallas really feels about Proctor, Marten, and Berger. Why was the starting interior in the game in the 4th quarter? I will tell you why. The back-up interior can't hold up or hold their ground. Proctor and Marten get pushed back all the time.

Expect it to be McQuistan. They need to play this guy and let him get the experience on the job. You have to start playing at some point. The guy has to be given an opportunity to show what he can do.

I think McQuistan could take that job and never look back if you let him learn from his mistakes and get better every week. He is stronger than Kosier.

Berger couldn't even stay on the Dolphins' roster when Houk was at Miami. They cut him. How can he start in Dallas over a guy Parcells said could be our "future left tackle"? Parcells saw something in McQuistan.

To me, the top two back-ups are Free and McQuistan. McQuistan has the experience at guard and Free needs to be the swing tackle.

I just have so much respect and faith in HH that I think either of those guys can get the job done. I think McQ will be the guy though..

Yea i have faith in HH. One of my least concerns with this team is the offensive line and that has alot to do with the coach coaching them. One of the best in the biz

He certainly is. Dude our oline was already HUGE and now we insert McQ. I'm anxious to see this. I see big running lanes in the late 3rd and 4th qtrs with those big cats leaning on the Dline all game long. This is gonna be fun to watch....
