In fairness, though, Matthews is doing that to a lot of LTs this year. Even pretty good ones.

And now THIS today!...LMAO

"There have been a lot of questions about how Doug Free has played at right tackle, replacing the injured Marc Colombo now for the past five games. Well, when Wade Phillips was asked that question out at The Ranch after Wednesday’s practice, the Cowboys head coach said, “Free graded out the best of all the offensive linemen in the last game.” Can tell you this, if not for Free, Tony Romo never would have hit Miles Austin on that 49-yard touchdown pass the first drive of the New Orleans game. The Cowboys came up with a new wrinkle, lining up Free to the left as if the third tight end, next to Flozell Adams, with Jason Witten actually lining up right, next to Leonard Davis. And when the Saints got pressure on Romo, it was Free peeling back to knock off the guy so Romo could get off the pass. If he hadn’t, Romo would have been sacked for sure."

have you considered you know very little about Offensive line play?

Why Yes, I have considered it. This is why I go by not only what I see myself with my own eyes, but also by what the media, coaches, players, and our own GM says. Should really try it sometime maybe, kinda refreshing to go purely on facts instead of silly little agenda's. I'll stop now, was just busting your chops anyway ;) Merry Christmas, now please, you must try and FREE yourself of this agenda..:D

well listening to stupid hacks is really educational. And coaches puffing their players- THAT never happens. Ol Nate did not have much good to say about our backups this year. I kind of want his take on Free which we have not heard yet. I have not heard other former players say anything about Free either. I mean we KNOW wade hardly EVER says anything bad about a player so he really does not count. And our local hacks don't know their rear end fom a hole in the ground.

So lemme see If I can get this straight. We have coaches, media, Jerry, and players all saying that Free has done quite well. We also have the games themselves to view, what our own eyes tell us. And YOU are saying there is more evidence saying he would fail at left tackle then there is evidence saying he very well could succeed??????? Least I have SEVERAL legit sources that I am basing my opinion on. You on the other hand seem to be basing your opinion on nothing but some kind of agenda. Seems to me you would WANT Free to succeed. I KNOW I DO, as I want ALL Cowboys players to succeed. Because its good for the TEAM. None of our opinions matter in the end anyway, what matters is what happens in next years camp. So far.....the facts seem to back my opinions FAR MORE than they would back yours. Time will tell, it ALWAYS does.

He should only come in if Free gets hurt. It'll be nice to have him there as a quality depth through the rest of this season should Dallas need it. There's really no need to rush him back IMO.

Depends on how Free is grading out. Medically I'd worry about Colombo's lower body strength. He's been out enough for there to be some atrophy with loss of strength. Depends a lot on his rehab and how much and how easy he's lifting.

It's Marc Colombo's job when he's ready

Todd Archer/Reporter http://www.***BANNED-URL***/blogs/images/bio-icon.jpg Bio | http://www.***BANNED-URL***/blogs/images/email-icon.jpg E-mail | http://www.***BANNED-URL***/blogs/images/email-icon.jpg News tips On Monday, right tackle Marc Colombo began on-field drills for his rehab from ankle surgery that has kept him out since the first half of the Green Bay game. His eye is on a return to the wild-card round of the playoffs but he didn't want to rule out a come back for the regular-season finale vs. Philadelphia.
Coach Wade Phillips didn't want to rule Colombo out of the Eagles' game either. And there's no dilemma at what to do at right tackle - when Colombo is ready, he starts over Doug Free, who has done a nice job in his first extended action.
"He graded out the best of our offensive linemen in the last game," Phillips said. "Pretty important game I thought. Some people thought it was."
