Anyone see the video Roy did for the SB commercial about not being able to read until the 12th grade?

That was a shocking admission.

What are you talking about? He still can't read.....................defenses. :)

he likens the number change to his finding religion... a new spirituality so to speak... meaning, he probably thinks he'll become a player through some miraculous intervention...

So pretty much we spend another off-season saying "well, this year Roy is going to be awesome because of X" -- how many times have we been through this?

part of the problem is they never drafted anyone to push him at the SS position,he has always been protected. He probably believes changing his number back to 38 will bring the fire back,I doubt it myself. He was once my favorite cowboy player, now I believe the Cowboys need to find a mid round sleeper to push him. I doubt he finishes this contract out.

Because reality is too horrible to contemplate.

I don't think Marcus Dupree could sign his name on the letter of intent.
He just used an X, it was the only way we could get talent without paying like the rest of the SWC.:p:

Pretty amazing that even a few months ago this thread would have still had a good number of posters defending RW.
48 posts into this thread and I don't see anyone sticking up for him.

And I agree with whoever said RW's attitude probably wears off on the defense, to its detriment.

What concerned me the most this year was the lack of infamous Roy blow up hits. And he has lost a step and struggles even matched up now on TE's. We are running out of places to hide him.

I think two things are in play here

1) We have a player thats heart is not in the game. But he knows its his ticket to a Lotto paycheck. He's playing for the love of the money, means to an end. I remember the big draft rumor on Roy - 5 years and he was going to retire.

2) Being such a savage hitter takes a toll on the human body. All those hits - slow the body and the mind. In football dog years - Roy is old

I agree and I think the coaches at OU could share in the blame for this (for not emphasizing proper technique).

I believe one of the reasons why his teammate at OU (Everage) never made it to the NFL was because of these ferocious hits during his time at OU. He wrecked his shoulders and wasn't able to pass a physical to save his life.

That ship has sailed.

Woodson has zero to do with what is wrong with roy williams.

Neither do Bill Parcells, Mike Zimmer, Todd Bowles, Brian Stewart or Wade phillips.

Its about roy. He is just not the same guy.

Usually the simplest answer is the most accurate.

I'm at wits end about Roy. I kept waiting for him to turn it around and he 's remained too much of a liability in the secondary.

I just don't know. No confidence in him.

I imagine it's because people are burnt out on the topic and are still feeling the effects of the loss.

What really is there to discuss re: Roy? There are no more games to discuss There are no more specific plays to discuss its merits. There's no more Dallas Cowboys football for the 2007 season. So for me, there's nothing I'd rather do less than wage war in yet another Roy love/hate thread.

SB can't get here fast enough, so we can get on with the business of free agency.

Roy Williams stuff

Calvin Watkins E-mail News tips

Talked to a few people at the Senior Bowl about strong safety Roy Williams.
Many have no answers as to why his play has declined the last few years.

But several things are certain according to two defensive coaches and one tight ends coach: Williams isn't reading plays well, looks out of shape and hasn't improved his tackling skills. He horse-collars running backs and wide receivers because he takes bad angles.

Williams was never a good cover guy, but as the tight end coach said, "he's a box guy." Meaning, play near the linebackers and stop the run.
Can Williams become a linebacker? Nope. He's too small.
Will the Cowboys cut him? Nope. That $11.1 million dollar signing bonus messes that up in someways.

This further solidifies my belief that he has simply gotten PAID and lazy...

You say Paycheck.

Roys says La-Z-Boy.

As GM, Jerry needs to step up and address this issue during the off season. Roy is getting paid the big bucks and he is way underproducing.

By the end of the season, he was so ineffectual that it was rather pointless.

This is a message board, jmo

Lots of speculation he was going to retire 5 years in and he doesn't strike me as a guy passionate to be a football player. jmo

how do you know he is?

Cool,

but how do you grade Roys play in 2007 versus say 2003?

this is a tangible talk point. I see a decline in play big.

do he look like his heart is in the game?

the only thing I've seen much passion from Roy about recently is hold grudges with reporters who say he sucks.
