Practice attendance -- Roy's here, Ellis isn't

The Cowboys Wednesday OTA is underway, and all but five players are here.

The missing: S Ken Hamlin, WR Terry Glenn, OLB Greg Ellis, RB Keon Lattimore and P Jay Ottovegio. Ottovegio isn't allowed to attend this workout, because of school commitments, while Glenn is being held out by the team and Hamlin is still without contract.

So that leaves Ellis as the only unexplained absence, for now. We'll get more on that for you.

And yes, Roy Williams is at practice. We'll bring all kinds of details from the workout and the locker room a little later in the day.

CORRECTION: As noted above, RB Keon Lattimore is in attendance for this morning's practice.

you caught my caveat. if this is only about ellis, no one cares. however, since the roy thread content is low on the main page, this *will* go to a roy thread and how wrong he was to be where he wasn't but is now.

if missing an OTA was rage material, many would have gotten mad last year. it's only rage when roy is involved.

I think that Roy must have said something to Ellis and hurt his feelings. Probably attacking him for that media interview.

Just as I said about Roy I expect our guys to be in attendance of every organized team work outs. This team needs to take advantage of every team workout they can get. For me this has nothing to do with hate, love, like or disliking of any player I just feel if you are a member of a team then you need to be with your team when the opportunity is there.

For the record, IMO, if it is a "negotiation" tactic or a "cut me so I can make more money" tactic, then his actions are worse than Roy's.

WHy would it be? Greg Ellis is workin out with the guys. Maybe it means he wasn't at OTAs on Wednesday.

It is clearly Roy's fault that Ellis did not show up.

...absences in the OTAs has generated wouldn't it be easier for Wade and company to announce in advance who was going to be absent for which sessions?

Unless some family emergency comes up of course, but anything else planned in advance could be communicated to keep the media hounds at bay.

Simple press release from a team rep would suffice.

It would help to keep the number of OTA threads to a minimum.

Has anybody thought that Ellis might have an excused absence from the coaching staff for family reasons? You'd feel stupid if his wife had a baby last night or someone in his family is seriously ill or died. Not saying that's the case but let's just not overreact.

I wonder if the coaching staff and front office are this militant.

Don't you think that if it were such a big deal that player Z missed a couple of "Organized Team Activities," that someone besides the fans and journalists looking for controversy would be saying something?

I find it kind of humorous that so many of us care about missing a couple of -- cue Allen Iverson -- PRACTICES... while at the same time, most of us are at work surfing an internet message board for our favorite football team.
